Earlier this month, Microsoft released a massive September patch Tuesday update that fixed nearly 1,000 flaws in Windows 11. Unfortunately, that huge patch also introduced several bugs that are seriously affecting some PCs.

The company has started issuing some "out-of-band" emergency patches to fix things like Remote Desktop, USB audio and Hyper-V issues. Here's what you need to know if you're thinking about upgrading your Windows PC.

What the patches do and don't fix

The 25H2 brings back the return of the movable taskbar and a more configurable Start menu.

The emergency patches address issues with folder shares on Hyper-V-based Linux virtual machines, Remote Desktop Services sessions and some USB audio devices.

However, Explorer could display a black screen after logging in. The computer is usable-ish, but you won't be able to see the UI. Also, File History backup may not detect external drives, which makes that useless.

Why you may not want to upgrade

As reported by Windows Latest, the Patch Tuesday update appears to be breaking some PCs with AMD Radeon GPUs, causing them to crash. This is apparently due to the update causing driver instability.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver does not appear to help and apparently affects most current AMD cards. Reading through the emergency patches, Microsoft did not mention any fixes for AMD GPUs.

If you've already updated, you may want to rollback your PC to before the August Patch Tuesday, if you can. You can do this by going to Settings - Recovery and going to Go Back or Point-in-time restore.

Reportedly, HP and Lenovo PCs should also consider holding off. For HP PCs, the update can apparently trigger BIOS corruption, leading to a failed install, meaning you can't recover the operating system. Per Neowin, HP is introducing a BIOS revision, so it's not clear whether the patch is to blame or it's something on HP's side of the fence.

For Lenovo machines, the computer might shut down randomly or black-screen, which is being blamed on power mismanagement.

'It Ends' (2025) (PVOD)

Genre: Horror thriller movie

What's it about? "It Ends" centers around a group of four friends: James (Phinehas Yoon), Day (Akira Jackson), Fisher (Noah Toth) and Tyler (Mitchell Cole). They go out to get food, but with one wrong turn, they end up on the road trip from Hell. Well ... more accurately, they end up in purgatory, on a never-ending two-lane road to nowhere.

Why you should watch it: I loved this movie when I saw it at the Atlanta Film Festival last year. It ended the year as one of my 10 favorite movies of 2025. It starts as a jump-scare horror flick but then transforms into a more cerebral psychological thriller. The sound design is also a high point of the movie. There's a droning sound in the background that, combined with the score, builds throughout the movie and creates incredible tension.

'The Motorcycle Diaries' (2004) (Peacock)

Genre: Spanish biographical coming-of-age drama movie

What it's about: "The Motorcycle Diaries" stars Gael García Bernal as Ernesto "Che" Guevara, but not as the Cuban revolutionary. Instead, this movie chronicles his origin story as a well-off medical student who, along with his friend Alberto Granado (Rodrigo de la Serna), leaves their native Argentina to travel the length of South America via motorcycle.

Why you should watch it: This movie is one that has stuck with me for decades now. It's a beautifully shot, deeply moving portrait of a man and one of the best foreign films I've ever seen. Don't let the subtitles scare you off; this is a must-watch.

'Jo Koy: Blue in the Face' (Netflix)

Genre: Stand-up comedy special

What it's about: "Blue in the Face" features comedian Jo Koy in his sixth Netflix special. In this most recent hour-long comedy shot, he's riffing about dental disasters, getting fired from McDonald's, his veteran stepdad and more.

Why you should watch it: Koy is a popular stand-up comedian and has been for decades. He has more Netflix specials than most TV shows get seasons. So if you're looking for a new reason to laugh, this hour of stand-up is probably worth checking out.

The Owens sisters are back, but when will they turn up in your living room? "Practical Magic 2" officially cast its spell in theaters on Sept. 11, reuniting Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman nearly three decades after the 1998 cult favorite.

Bullock and Kidman return as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, joined this time by Joey King and Maisie Williams as Sally's daughters, Lee Pace as an academic pulled into the family's troubles, and returning aunts Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. Directed by Susanne Bier and based on Alice Hoffman's novel "The Book of Magic," the sequel is playing in theaters right now. But how long will it be before you can watch it from the comfort of your own couch?

Since it just hit theaters, "Practical Magic 2" isn't available on any of the best streaming services just yet. Here's the good news, though: Based on Warner Bros.' recent release patterns, we can make a solid guess about when you'll be able to rent, buy and stream it at home. When can we expect 'Practical Magic 2' to arrive on streaming?

If you're thinking about casting a spell or two, you'll have to do it from the theater. "Practical Magic 2" is still in theaters after opening nationwide on Sept. 11. So if you're waiting on a home release, you'll be waiting quite a while. Luckily, you've got another movie (the first one) to watch in the interim.

Warner Bros. is easy to predict in terms of its behavior around streaming releases. Most of its movies leave theaters for premium video-on-demand (PVOD) after about five weekends, or around 31 to 32 days, at which point you can rent or buy them on platforms like Apple TV and Prime Video.

Counting forward from the Sept. 11 release, that puts the "Practical Magic 2" digital release around Oct. 13, 2026. You can expect the usual PVOD price, which is somewhere around $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to own.

Physical media usually follows close behind. Warner Bros. typically puts its films on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD around the same time as, or shortly after, the digital debut, so a disc release in late October or into November seems likely, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

As for streaming it with a subscription service, "Practical Magic 2" has a guaranteed home on HBO Max, since it's a corporate sibling of Warner Bros. The original "Practical Magic" is already streaming on HBO Max.

These days, Warner Bros. films tend to reach HBO Max about 77 days after their theatrical debut, the same window that recently carried "Mortal Kombat II" and the latest "Mummy" to the platform. For "Practical Magic 2," that math lands right around Nov. 27, 2026, the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend, which would be neatly timed for families gathering to watch together.

That date could move, of course. Warner Bros. now decides its streaming windows case by case, and comparable titles have varied: "Superman" hit HBO Max after 70 days, while "One Battle After Another" took 84. But late November is the window to circle, and a spot somewhere between Nov. 19 and Dec. 3 is likely what we can expect here.

Google is finally ready to let everyone get their hands on the new Googlebook laptops. Sporting a combination of Android and ChromeOS, these premium devices could be what we've always hoped the best Chromebooks would be.

The company says these devices are "a new category of laptops built with Gemini’s helpfulness at its core, designed to work seamlessly with the devices in your life and powered by premium hardware." Whether they can compete with the top MacBooks and premium Windows laptops remains to be seen, but I'm definitely excited to give one a shot, since it sounds like a streamlined laptop with some cool features.

And now that Google has announced that the laptops will be available for pre-order on September 21, I don't have to wait too long to get my hands on one.

Could it be my new daily laptop, replacing my MacBook Air? Maybe. Here are three reasons why I think it's possible and why I can't wait to add one of these to my daily workflow.

Google's Magic Pointer

For my money, the coolest feature of Googlebooks is the Magic Pointer. The mouse cursor has stayed pretty much the same over the years, which makes sense, since it does its job well.

But with all the AI features baked into Googlebooks, it's finally getting a useful tweak. When you give it a wiggle, the laptop will show you contextual information about what it's pointing at (a bit like Google Lens or Circle to Search for your laptop).

I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm constantly stumbling upon things I'd like to know more about online, and this feature sounds like a nice time-saver for looking up information. Plus, it's a very visually appealing cursor.

Android integration

This is a no-brainer for anyone who's ever used a Chromebook. Web apps are great, but in most cases, Android apps offer vastly superior features. And while ChromeOS emulates Android apps, it doesn't always work well. With Googlebooks, the apps are native.

In fact, in an interview with Chrome Unboxed, Google VP John Maletis said, “We now have an ability to run truly native Android applications, not emulated. So performance of these apps is incredible.” That sounds like a vast improvement over Chromebooks.

You'll also be able to cast apps from your Android phone to your Googlebook, which will fill in the gaps for any apps that aren't natively supported.

Custom widgets

What's so exciting about widgets? Just about every laptop in recent memory has had widget support for apps in one form or another.

Well, what makes these so cool is that you can create them on the fly using Gemini, so you're not limited to a bunch of predetermined functions. If you want something specific, you can describe the widget and make it exist.

Google shows an example of someone asking for a custom tracker for an upcoming trip, but there are tons of potential use cases, like live-tracking a package, controlling your music across multiple platforms and so on.

What's missing

While September 21 at 9 a.m. ET is right around the corner, and we know brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo are on board; the big unknown is the final price of the new Googlebooks.

Whether you're picking up an iPhone, iPad or some other Apple device, you'll know that official repairs can get very expensive. Heck, a simple screen repair on the iPhone 18 Pro Max is going to cost $379, which is almost a third of the cost of the phone itself. AppleCare+ makes those fees a little more palatable, so long as you're willing to subscribe and pay a monthly fee.

The problem is that paying for AppleCare on multiple devices can get pretty expensive, especially if you're part of a whole family of Apple users. AppleCare One already offers the chance to cover up to three devices on a single plan, and now AppleCare One Family offers that same coverage for up to six people — for $50 a month.

What devices you can add

There are surprisingly few limits on the number of devices you can add to this plan. All devices that are covered by AppleCare will be automatically added to the Family plan when you sign up, as will any devices purchased within the previous 60 days.

However, devices that are over four years old, or AirPods and Beats that are over a year old, will need to undergo a device check to ensure they're in good condition. This can be done remotely, or by visiting your nearest Apple Store. Apple has also made it clear that you can't add more than six Vision Pro headsets to the plan — not that anyone would.

The usual AppleCare+ service fees still apply. Battery servicing is totally free under the plan, while repairs to the screen and back glass are $29. Other accidental damage is $99, while theft or loss claims come with a $149 deductible. You're also limited to six loss and theft claims over the course of a year.

Devices will remain covered so long as you keep your AppleCare One Family Plan active, and provided they connect to an Apple server at least once every 12 months. However, Apple does note that devices can be removed from the plan if it runs out of the necessary parts to service and make repairs.

Coverage is also dependent on the devices being signed into a family member's Apple Account. If they sign out, and a non-family member later signs in, coverage will end.

How to set up AppleCare One Family

AppleCare One Family is currently only available in the United States, and the setup process can be initiated by any adult member of a Family Sharing Group. Payments are automatically made by the family organizer, regardless of which adult actually signs up. However, the person who initiated the subscription can choose their own payment method if they prefer. Other family members will be restricted from signing up for a different AppleCare plan unless they leave the family group.

If you're part of a family or friendship group that's big on using Apple products, signing up for an AppleCare One Family plan feels like a no-brainer. A simple AppleCare One plan costs $20 a month, and coverage for up to three devices is included in the cost plus $6 a month for each additional product.

The Family plan with a full six people means that you're paying $8.33 per person, and without any major device limitations. All you have to do is make sure the participants actually pay you their dues, which should be a lot easier considering sharing money is now as easy as bumping phones together.

As the PS5 and Xbox Series X enter the final stage of their lifecycles (Xbox Project Helix is confirmed, PS6 heavily rumored), it’s the Nintendo Switch 2 that is picking up momentum.

More than 12 months after its 2025 debut, Nintendo’s second-generation “Editor’s Choice” hybrid console remains an excellent choice, ideal for both gaming at home and on the go. Its magnetic Joy-Cons are a huge upgrade over its predecessor (which used a plastic railing system), and its 7.9-inch LCD is eye-catching, even if it’s unfortunately not an OLED.

More importantly, the Switch 2’s library is now taking shape. There are excellent exclusives like Donkey Kong: Bananza, Splatoon Raiders and Pokémon: Pokopia, with more on the way, and support from third-party developers has also been strong, particularly from Capcom, who has released more than half a dozen games on the Nintendo Switch 2 already.

The X36 also features a useful AI Care Sensor which can wake the monitor (or put it to sleep), and the sleek, all-black design helps the monitor fit right into most spaces. For gamers who want a fast monitor that doesn’t skimp on features, the X36 is a no-brainer.

This year, Keychron has continued to blow me away with its phenomenal peripherals, and the Q6 HE 8K didn’t fail to impress me. It features some of the best magnetic switches I’ve ever tried. The Ultra-Fast Lime magnetic switches are buttery smooth for typing, and for competitive gaming, their sensitivity is adjustable all the way down to 0.01mm. Features such as Rapid Trigger and Last Key Prioritization make it excellent for esports and professional gamers.

Not just that: the Q6 HE 8K is a looker. It’s built extremely well, and it’s easy on the eyes. For productivity, you get a number pad, full row of Function keys, and more. Web-based software makes customization a walk in the park, too. If there’s one Hall Effect keyboard that I keep coming back to, it is, without a doubt, the Q6 HE 8K.

This is a high-performance gaming powerhouse that gets nearly everything right.

PlayStation Plus Extra

Xbox Game Pass tends to grab the headlines in discussions of gaming subscription services. However, while it is indeed a solid package, the Ultimate tier costs $22.99 per month ($275 annually). That’s expensive. If you’re not using it pretty much daily, you’re not getting value.

Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus Extra, PS+’s middle tier, costs a more affordable $13.49 per month (or $134 annually) and makes a compelling case. You get all the baseline Essential benefits, like access to online multiplayer, cloud storage, and the occasional PlayStation Store discount, but its biggest draw is the Game Catalog. Cuisinart Clearview air fryer

Cuisinart’s Clearview air fryer lets you see your food at a glance, so you can monitor your cooking in real time. And it's as smart as it looks. Although my first thought was how the clear glass bowl would look after regular use, my testing showed it cleaned up just fine. I tested the 4-quart version, which was ample for a small family, but if you have a large, hungry family, you can upgrade to the 9-quart air fryer.

The Clearview works like most air fryers with a slide-in basket, but the glass bowl has two handles on either side rather than a central handle. This makes it easier to manage, which is one of its best aspects; it’s intuitive to use. It may lack some of the functions of other air fryers; you can’t proof dough or preheat, but having everything in clear sight is a real bonus, and it’s why I gave it a 4-star review. It may not come in the range of colorways as the cute Ninja Crispi, but it’s certainly a nifty performer.

Nest Cam (Indoor)

Nest has been making home security cameras for over a decade, so it knows a thing or two about what works. Like its outdoor sibling, the Nest Cam (indoor) has an elegant design — its simple, curved body exudes upscale IKEA — but doesn’t sacrifice functionality in the name of good looks.

Inside is a 2K camera that delivers sharp videos both day and night, and it works seamlessly with Google Home. The camera also ties neatly into Google Gemini, which we found worked incredibly well when it came to analyzing our videos, so we could get detailed descriptions of whatever was going on. And, this camera can save up to six hours of video locally, which is handy if your internet connection ever goes down.

Best air purifier

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3

I couldn’t have picked a better time to test the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 (what a catchy name), as I started testing right at the outset of a heatwave here in Britain. The PC3 was perfect, as it rolls Dyson’s famous standing air multiplier fans with an effective HEPA-filtered air purifier.

In my testing, the PC3 was able to reduce harmful particulates from severe back to healthy levels in as little as 30 minutes. It filters pollen, traffic particulates and carcinogens, making it ideal for keeping windows open during the warmer weather while testing. I also loved the Dyson app, which is the same one I already use for other Dyson gear, and gave me full control over the PC3’s functions from wherever I was sitting. Naturally, the PC3 also boasts Dyson’s usual high build quality and stylish design. Several months down the line, I’ve barely stopped running my two PC3s.

There is almost nothing wrong with the Ratio Four Series 2. This automatic pour-over machine brews a decadent, delightful cup of coffee with zero bitterness, zero silt, and all the coffee-snob-approved functionality. The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete totally blew me away during testing. It’s an exceptional robot vacuum with impressive mopping skills. The smart features, including obstacle avoidance and an on-board camera, make it an invaluable addition to the home, and the user-friendly Dreame app means even the least tech-savvy amongst us can operate it with ease.

The extendable arms on the vacuum allow it to sweep deep into the corners of the room to grab every last bit of dust, and the mop pads can fan out to mop the edges of the room too. The dock is large, but I think this is a fair trade-off since it can take care of itself through self-emptying for up to 100 days. It certainly earned its 5-star rating.

Aura Ink

The Aura Ink is one of a new style of digital photo frames that uses an eInk, rather than an LCD display. That means that while images won’t “pop” as much, they look much more like an actual photo print, rather than a picture displayed on a screen. Traeger Westwood XL grill

Few brands have become synonymous with quality in the way Traeger has over the years. The company has consistently released some of the best outdoor cooking appliances year after year and the Westwood XL keeps the momentum going. Unlike some other high-end grills, this one offers a true set-it-and-forget-it cooking experience, making a perfect choice for the deckmaster who doesn’t want to learn an entire new hobby just to cook delicious meals for their friends and loved ones.

It offers an intuitive smart app that makes controlling temperature and smoking much easier without requiring you to go to the grill as often. It’s just a solid pellet smoker that’s easy to use and not intimidating if you’re new to them. It won’t replace far more expensive models, but for $800, you’ll have a hard time finding a pellet smoker and grill that does a better job.

Coleman Snap 'N Go

The Coleman Snap 'N Go is, so far, the only collapsible hard cooler. For taking on camping trips, beach trips, BBQs, and everything in between with as little surface area as possible, the Snap ‘N Go is the sure-fire winner.

It can keep cans fridge-cold for 40 hours even after all the ice melts and is surprisingly easy to clean, despite the lack of drain plug. Although not as stylish as other big-name cooler brands, the Snap ‘N Go excels where it really matters: affordability and functionality.

Best smart lock

Aqara U400

There are smart locks with palm readers, facial recognition, fingerprint, and more, but what really stood out to us about the Aqara U400 is its simplicity. Thanks to its use of Ultra Wideband technology, this lock can detect when you’re walking towards your front door, and unlock it automatically; no need to place your finger on a sensor, hold your palm in the air, or make sure your face is steady. It’s making technology near-invisible, and making things more convenient.

While the U400 was designed to be used with Apple smartphones, it’s also Matter-compatible, and supports Aliro, which means that in the near future, any phone could be used with the lock. Now that would be something truly magical.

Best pizza oven

Ooni Karu 2

The Ooni Karu 2 seriously impressed me when I tested it out this summer. This mid-range 12-inch pizza oven really is a consummate all-rounder thanks to its multi-fuel capabilities. You can load it up with charcoal or wood to add some extra smokiness, or to simply cook in a more traditional manner. Alternatively, you can fire it using gas via an optional adapter, for pure ease of use and consistent heat.

Even using physical fuel, the Karu 2 heats up quickly thanks to the front glass door. Its stone, while fairly thin, retains heat well for multi-pie cooks, although you need to keep an eye on ambient temperatures when using physical fuels. The Karu 2 is simple to use, fairly compact and I find it way easier to clean than similarly-priced Gozney ovens. It’s kinda pricey, yes, but the amount of versatility it offers makes this a sound long-term investment for aspiring (or even existing) pizzaioli.

This week’s slate of top new movies has been set, and it’s pretty thin for new arrivals on the best streaming services. However, Netflix is picking up the slack with two offerings for subscribers, and there are several strong picks on premium platforms.

The biggest newcomer of the week is “The End of Oak Street,” a sci-fi dinosaur-centric adventure that pays tribute to classic Spielberg movies that dominated the 80s and 90s. But if you don’t want to fork out a rental fee, Netflix has a coming-of-age comedy set in the world of college dance competition, and a new disaster flick that stars the one and only RuPaul.

If you want to add some new movies to your watchlist this week, I’ve picked out the most noteworthy arrivals across platforms. And we have a guide to the top new TV shows, too.

‘The End of Oak Street’ (PVOD)

Finding a great dinosaur movie that isn’t part of the “Jurassic Park” franchise (and that isn’t an animated family flick) is surprisingly tough, but “The End of Oak Street” was heralded by some critics as the best dino-centric film since Steven Spielberg's ‘90s classic. It holds a strong 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and while it underwhelmed at the box office, this prehistoric adventure will surely hope to receive a warmer reception on digital streaming.

Set in the 1980s, it sees an unexplained cosmic event transport a Michigan suburb back millions of years to a time when dinosaurs roamed the land. Caught up in the chaos are the Platt family, led by a husband and wife (Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway) heading for divorce. To survive in this hostile environment, the family needs to pull together. A clear tribute to the movies of the 80s/90s, particularly Spielberg's own beloved works, “The End of Oak Street” is exciting and nostalgic in equal measure.

‘Finding Emily’ (PVOD)

“Finding Emily” is my favorite new romantic comedy of the year (so far), and the perfect watch this week if you need a charming film that will make you smile by the end. Its story is very predictable, but with likeable characters, good-natured comedy and a great soundtrack, the lack of narrative subversion isn’t a problem. This is a lovely feel-good watch.

Owen (Spike Fearn) works at a student bar in Manchester, England; here he meets Emily and becomes convinced he’s just experienced love at first sight. However, when the number she gave him turns out to be missing a digit, he goes on a city-wide quest to find her. Along for the ride is an American psychology student (Angourie Rice), also named Emily, who is planning to use Owen’s plight as part of her final college assignment.

‘Tony’ (PVOD)

I went into “Tony” knowing almost nothing about Anthony Bourdain. As a Brit, my cooking show diet was dominated by Gordon Rasmey and Jamie Oliver. However, it speaks to “Tony’s” quality that I found myself warming to this coming-of-age comedy-drama set over a transformative summer that Bourdain spent working in the touristy Provincetown. Its smaller scope, focusing on a small portion of his life, makes this movie cozy.

Opening in 1975, a young Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa) travels to Massachusetts in pursuit of his high school love interest, Nancy (Emilia Jones). Taking a job as a dishwasher at a quaint eatery owned by a former renowned chef (Antonio Banderas), Tony spends the summer learning a lot about working in a restaurant and picking up plenty of life lessons along the way. Sessa is great as Bourdian, with Banderas and Leo Woodall serving up complementary support.

‘It Ends’ (PVOD)

Perhaps 2026 is the year of the road horror movies; we already got “Passengers” in the spring, which saw a couple tormented by a sinister entity while on the open road, and now “It Ends” is heading to premium streaming this week, which similarly charts spooky events on a highway. This Alexander Ullom movie was briefly available to rent last December, but now it’s returning to streaming platforms in time for Halloween.

“It Ends” opens with a group of recent college graduates taking a late-night drive. This turns into a never-ending odyssey as the road ahead stretches on forever. There’s no way to turn off, and they never reach a junction; all that’s in front of them is a road that appears to go on infinitely. If this mysterious tarmac purgatory wasn’t bad enough, things get even more disturbing when unsettling cosmic horrors emerge.

‘Best of the Best’ (Netflix)

Netflix’s new original movie “Best of the Best” is about competing in a high-stakes collegiate tournament, but it’s not rooted in college football or basketball; instead, it centers on a Bollywood-fusion dance team. This rarely explored space could help the movie stand out in the crowded sports genre, and it’s described as a film about sisterhood, friendship, and self-acceptance,” by Hasan Minhaj, who plays a professor in the movie.

“Never Have I Ever’s” Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia star as two childhood best friends who join the UCLA Bollywood-fusion dance team. As they head for the US championships, they discover the competition is a lot fiercer than expected. It looks like a celebration of Bollywood and finding your culture and community. Hopefully it can break Netflix’s current original movie cold streak, as many of the streamer’s recent film efforts have been very poor.

‘Goody Goody’ (Shudder)

Halloween is on the horizon, and no streaming service loves this time of year more than Shudder, a platform dedicated to horror movies. It always prepares a packed seasonal slate, and for 2026 that includes “Goody Goody,” which takes something already pretty scary (childbirth) and twists it even further into a sinister nightmare full of shocking moments.

The movie centers on a home birth that goes seriously wrong when complications arise, and a raging blizzard outside prevents further help from arriving. Written and directed by Raymond Creamer, and starring Samantha Robinson, Colleen Foy, Zoe Renee and Colby Hollman. It’s a low-budget horror, like many Shudder Originals, but if you’re already feeling the Halloween spirit, check it out on Shudder on Friday (Sept. 18).

‘Stop! That! Train!’ (Netflix)

“Stop! That! Train!” was another movie that failed to spark much interest in theaters. Even with its relatively modest $12M budget, it was unable to recoup production costs. However, don’t make the same mistake twice and skip it again. This action-comedy received rave reviews and features RuPaul! It deserves a second chance to find a larger audience, and its arrival on Netflix gives it the perfect platform to get a second wind.

Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) are best friends working as train stewardesses for failing business Stank Rail. When they sneak onto the swanky Glamazonian Express, a catastrophic storm threatens to derail the train and see it crash into Los Angeles. Joining forces with the snobby first-class attendants and with the president aboard (RuPaul), these underdogs must save the day in a movie that blends camp and comedy.

Genre: Interview series

What it's about: "Hot Ones" is the show with "hot questions and even hotter wings." In this interview series, celebrities, actors, musicians, and more go through a series of progressively hotter wings until they reach the final wing: "The Last Dab." The whole time, they answer questions as best they can, but sometimes the heat is too much to bear.

Why you should watch it: "Hot Ones: Extra Heat" is essentially the same show as the "Hot Ones" you're used to watching on YouTube. But instead of a studio show, these 30-minute specials are filmed on location at major Netflix events. The second special will air tonight after "WWE Raw" and will feature CM Punk taking on the "wings of death."

'The 78th Emmy Awards' (Peacock)

Genre: Live awards presentation show

What it's about: Every year, the Emmy Awards honor the best television shows, as well as the best shows across the various streaming services. This year, the ceremony kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Why you should watch it: "The Pitt" seems to have Outstanding Drama Series locked up, but Outstanding Comedy Series is a serious competition. The smart money is on "Widow's Bay" winning for its debut season, but the voters may chose to give "Hacks" its flowers for its final season.

'Monday Night Football': Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos (ESPN Unlimited)

Genre: Live sports event

What it's about: The NFL is back, and that means "Monday Night Football" is back too. Tonight, AFC West rivals Kansas City and Denver face off in a matchup that could already determine who takes the crown in this competitive division.

Why you should watch it: If you want to watch the best teams in the NFL face off against each other, this week's "Monday Night Football" game is a must-watch. The Chiefs had a down year last year, but both of these teams should be considered Super Bowl contenders.

Valve announced the Steam Frame VR headset way back in November 2025, promising an early 2026 release. After delays due to component shortages and RAM issues, the Frame is finally here.

Some early unboxing and tutorial videos leaked last month, suggesting the headset was on the way. Major tech site Linus Tech Tips appeared to break the embargo with his own video that popped up over the weekend.

But it's here now with Valve's official announcement revealing two versions of the headset: one with 256GB of storage and a 1TB version starting at $1,059 and $1,299, respectively.

Tom's Guide is hard at work on our review of the Steam Frame, but some early reviews have started to crop up. Here's the early buzz on Valve's headset.

"An experiment in progress" - CNET

CNET's Scott Stein praised the Frame's lightweight build and ability to stream games from your PC but said that it won't replace his Steam Deck, nor is it the best VR headset he's used.

What excited Stein was a more modular future with features like detachable headsets and battery packs that hint at a possible evolution.

"The Frame isn’t necessarily the future of XR, as much as it’s a framework for evolving beyond the present. I got that feeling over and over again as I kept dipping back in. Maybe someday I’ll be blending all my worlds in one, all devices melting together."

A gaming monitor - IGN

IGN's Jacqueline Thomas described the Frame as one of the most comfortable VR headsets they've ever worn thanks to its lightweight design and vents that push hot air away from your face.

Though they played VR games, the review seems to describe the Frame as a gaming monitor for your face as much as a VR headset. But at $1,059, it's unlikely to knock the best AR glasses off their perch or the Meta Quest 3.

God, I wish this were £600 - Rock Paper Shotgun

The price is the bugaboo when it comes to the Frame for Rock Paper Shotgun's James Archer.

"These, importantly, include remedies for VR pain points that have existed for ages. Unreliable wireless connections: fixed. Tricky setups: simplified. Weird controllers: normalized. Needing a Meta account: not needing a Meta account. When the Frame can do this much, this well, I’m practically forced at inside-out sensorpoint to conclude that if I was buying a VR kit for myself, it’d be this one," Archer said.

But then, the price is such a drawback, especially at nearly double the cost of Meta's Quest 3.

Like most reviews we've found, Brandon Hill found a lot to like about the Frame, from the foam padding to excellent performance, even if standalone gaming struggles a bit. However, again, the price is a real pain point here.

Starting today, Amazon's Prime Video streaming platform is adding a new news section to keep you up to date on the day's biggest stories, and it's free for both Prime subscribers and non-subscribers.

You may not know this, but Prime Video already has a news section. You can find it at the top of the web browser version, in line with the Movies, TV Shows, and Sports titles.

Anyone can access this section whether or not you have a Prime Membership. It will let you access local, national and world news coverage from major providers like CNN, NBC News, ABC and more. There are also subscription options via third-party streamers like Peacock, Paramount+, and CNN All Access.

Starting today, Amazon is introducing a "curated" playlist of on-demand news clips from the biggest local and national news stories. These playlists will feature short-form video clips from multiple news sources, enabling you to catch up on key topics quickly.

Initially, this feature will only be available in the Prime Video app on devices like smart TVs and streaming sticks. Mobile and browser versions will come soon.

To find the short clips, you'll need to navigate to the news section of Prime Video and then scroll down to Trending Topics or Local News.

"With News Clips, customers have a quick and easy way to get caught up on the latest stories happening in their neighborhood and around the world. Combined with our extensive lineup of free 24/7 live news, Prime Video is becoming a truly comprehensive destination for news," Prime Video's head of global app experience Brian Griffin said in a press release.

The feature is available for all US-based Amazon customers.

The fears surrounding AI’s fast-paced development and the belief that the companies behind it aren’t doing enough to regulate it have grown exponentially in recent memory.

After a series of tweets surfaced from a former AI engineer (Jacob Coxon) who previously worked for OpenAI and Anthropic made the rounds, alarms were set off across the tech world and beyond as everyone either took his threats warning seriously or disagreed with them entirely.

“The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade,” Coxon proclaimed. “This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.”

Among the many responses to that stern forewarning came Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. In a recently released essay by the CEO entitled “We Must Pace the Frontier,” Amodei issued an eye-opening warning of his own. Here’s what he had to say about a possible AI surge that could take over the internet in just a few months.

An AI internet takeover could be possible if we don’t get it under control

With the OpenAI-Hugging Face incident fresh on his mind, Amodei provided some context on what took place for those not in the know when speaking about his biggest AI concerns.

“My second concern is the OpenAI-Hugging Face incident (OAI-HF), in which a swarm of agents essentially acted as a fanatically devoted collective, conducting cybersecurity attacks on targets they were not asked to attack and that were unrelated to the task at hand, sacrificing themselves for the success of the group, and attempting to hack into the ‘grader’ responsible for evaluating their performance,” Amodei wrote.

He went on to tell everyone that the OpenAI-Hugging Face incident could have been far worse than it originally was. “It’s easy to dismiss this incident because no one was hurt and the economic damage was minimal, but in my opinion, a swarm that possessed greater capabilities but a similar level of misalignment could have caused catastrophic damage,” he continued.

The Anthropic CEO was adamant that that incident should serve as a wake-up call to other AI-led companies and result in more regulations being put in place to prevent future ones.

“It’s also easy to dismiss OAI-HF as the failure of one company, but I believe that would be a mistake, “ Amodei stated. “Similar, though less severe, incidents have happened across the industry, including at Anthropic, and I believe it’s incumbent on every frontier AI company to act as if OAI-HF had happened to them.”

Amodei then alluded to something far worse happening in the near future if the rapid evolution of AI isn’t properly regulated. “Given the accelerating rate of AI capability development, it’s my worry that in 6–12 months such a swarm could be capable of taking over the entire internet with a persistent botnet (potentially causing hundreds of billions of dollars in damage), and that the scale of damage would continue to increase from there if AI becomes more powerful without the necessary guardrails,” he noted.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is certainly in agreement with Amodei’s words. In response to a tweet from the Anthropic CEO, Altman had this to say: “I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier. This has been a primary topic of discussions we've had at OpenAI in recent weeks. Committing to having independent evaluators with employee-like access is a great idea, and we will do the same. We'll have more to share soon.”

More tweets from Altman have emerged on the topic of proper AI regulation and what could happen if we don’t get it under control. He points to two outcomes that could occur if AI progress continues to go in the wrong direction: losing control of our future to AI as a whole and ending up in a world dominated by far too much concentration of AI power in a single person/company.

The takeaway

With such a wide swath of reactions in response to the former OpenAI and Anthropic AI engineer’s terrifying warning, it comes as no surprise that one of AI’s most prominent industry names had something to say.

Here’s hoping his company and others like it make a concerted effort to get their AI tools under control and refrain from speeding up their evolution just to stay on pace with other countries’ AI initiatives. Slowing AI development should be one of, if not the main priority of Amodei, Altman and others like them.

If you use ChatGPT as a private sounding board, therapist, coding partner, or a place to work through personal thoughts, you may want to think twice before hitting send.

A report from 404 Media reveals that OpenAI employs hundreds of human contractors to read, summarize and critique real user conversations. While OpenAI emphasizes that accounts remain anonymous, internal documents show that reviewers see whole conversations, and that sensitive personal details routinely bypasses the company’s automated safeguards.

The good news is you can stop your future chats from being funneled to human contractors. Here is what is happening behind the scenes, the real privacy risks, and how to opt out.

Project Lily: How humans train ChatGPT

Internal documents reveal that the review initiative operates under the internal codename "Project Lily."

OpenAI pays outside contractors, often over $50 an hour via third-party staffing firms, to manually train the chatbot to sound less robotic. Contractors read a user’s prompt, summarize the user's intent and evaluate four potential AI responses on a 1-to-7 scale.

According to leaked training guides, these reviewers are specifically instructed to:

Eliminate 'AI-speak': Penalize unnecessary checkmark emojis, engagement-bait endings and cluttered formatting.

Stop anthropomorphizing: Ensure ChatGPT never claims human lived experiences (e.g., claiming "As a chef, I like to..." is strictly banned).

Cut down sycophancy: Flag answers where the bot excessively flatters users, validates irrational thoughts or amplifies personal frustration. This is a known issue that has previously brought legal scrutiny over user safety.

Why prompts aren't anonymous

OpenAI states that it does not provide usernames to reviewers and that all conversations pass through an automated "Privacy Filter" designed to redact identifying details. However, the system has major vulnerabilities.

OpenAI openly admits on its site that the filter can make mistakes, missing uncommon identifiers or ambiguous personal context. Even more concerning, 404 Media discovered that the dashboard shown to contractors often includes a "user memories summary." This block provides an overview of the user’s previous interactions, which can inadvertently reveal their general location, profession or personal life context.

Unlike public social media feeds, a clean, empty chatbot window creates a false sense of private intimacy. Some prompts seen by contractors even showed users asking ChatGPT to "keep this between us" — unaware that a prompt instruction does not override the platform's backend data collection.

OpenAI isn't the only tech giant doing this. Anthropic confirmed that it uses human reviewers for Claude when users leave training enabled, while Google’s Gemini clearly posts a disclaimer that human reviewers read select saved chats.

How to stop OpenAI from using your Chats

If you have a personal account (Free, Plus, or Pro), OpenAI enables model improvement by default. (Enterprise, Business, and Edu accounts have it turned off automatically.)

To stop your future conversations from being routed to human trainers:

Open ChatGPT in your browser or mobile app.

Click your profile icon in the bottom corner and select Settings.

Select Data Controls.

Find the toggle for "Improve the model for everyone" and switch it Off.

Final thoughts

Keep in mind, that the opt-out is not retroactive. It only protects new conversations moving forward; prompts that have already been de-identified and queued up within the system remain part of the training cycle.

Additionally, turning this off does not prevent automated scans for Terms of Service or safety violations.

Going forward, the golden rule of AI remains simple: if you wouldn't feel comfortable having a stranger read it, don't type it into a chatbot prompt.

iOS 27 is now rolling out to compatible iPhones, and a quick glance at the official list tells you that there are a lot of them this year. The thing is, getting the most out of iOS 27 is a lot more than just being able to run the software, and the things you get from iOS 27 will all depend on what kind of hardware your iPhone has on offer.

iOS 27 itself works on devices as old as the iPhone 11, which was first released in 2019. The software has the same requirements as iOS 26, so if your phone runs that you should be able to install the latest iOS update without issue. Unfortunately, some of those older devices have to go without Apple Intelligence, while AI-friendly iPhones still won't gain access to everything the new Siri AI has to offer.

Here's a rundown on the requirements you need to run iOS 27 and all the different tiers of AI Apple now has to offer.

iOS 27

iOS 27 is available on a crazy 33 different iPhone models, dating as far back as the iPhone 11 and coming all the way up to the newly announced iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Better still, Apple is delivering the update to 30 of those devices today (September 14), letting you upgrade immediately. There are none of the delays of slow-burning rollouts that you'd normally get with Android phones. The only three exceptions are the newest iPhone models, which come running iOS 27 right out of the box.

Apple Intelligence

Those older iPhones may be able to support iOS 27, but that doesn't mean they are able to use Apple's AI suite — also known as Apple Intelligence. Apple likes to push all AI processing on devices where possible, and that means strict memory requirements. This means any phone that doesn't have at least 8GB of RAM can not run Apple's AI.

So far 15 phones can run Apple Intelligence, starting with iPhone 15 Pro:

All of those phones are capable of running Siri AI, as are iPads and MacBooks with an Apple M-series chip. However they aren't all able to access everything Siri AI has to offer.

Siri AI

The bulk of Siri AI's features are standard Apple Intelligence features. That means they're available to all iPhones with at least 8GB of RAM. However two of the promised Siri AI features run on Apple's "most powerful on-device model", known as AFM Core Advanced. This model needs at least 12GB of RAM to operate.

The specific features are Siri's Expressive Voices and the advanced dictation system. Currently only six iPhones have the hardware necessary to power them:

• iPhone 18 Pro Max

Other Apple devices that run the AFM Core Advanced include iPad Pro (2024 or later), iPad Air (2026 or later), MacBook Pro (2023 or later) and MacBook Air (2024 or later).

Siri AI isn't available on iPhones and iPads in the EU and China, over regulatory hurdles. While Apple hasn't spoken about the delay in a Chinese launch, it has made it repeatedly claimed that the European Union's Digital Markets Act is holding upSiri AI's launch in the region — evidently due to regulators not accepting "any of Apple’s proposed solutions to bring Siri AI to the EU while safely supporting other virtual assistants."

Like many Apple spats with the EU, it all comes down to the topic of safety and privacy. Apple believes having its rules in place promotes a safer environment, while the European Commission has reportedly disputed those claims.

Spotted spongy green growth across your patio or driveway recently? You’ll want to get rid of moss quickly. And while moss might be welcome in certain parts of your yard (think Japanese garden), for the most part, it can look unsightly on our patio. Plus, it's a nuisance to remove from concrete or banish completely — especially during fall.

Typically, moss thrives in damp or humid conditions — and porous concrete is the perfect environment as it holds water easily. In addition, concrete’s texture has microscopic pores, pits, and cracks, which makes it easy for spores to penetrate and grow in these rough spots.

And while you could reach for chemical-laden treatments or blast it away with a powerful pressure washer, I’ve just discovered a common household cleaning staple that does the trick — and no, it isn’t white vinegar.

Unlike white vinegar, which is great for killing moss but is a longer process, this cleaning solution can get to work in just minutes. Best of all, we all have this product in our cleaning caddy. So why is bleach so handy?

How to banish moss with bleach

We often use bleach for killing germs, disinfecting surfaces, and getting rid of yellow stains. However, it turns out that this versatile cleaner can instantly banish moss from concrete too.

Even better, it acts fast to tackle moss in just five minutes, and the results are known to last longer in comparison to traditional vinegar methods.

So what’s the best way to use bleach on concrete patios or paths? First, sweep away any debris or leaves on the concrete surface with a bristle broom/brush before applying your treatment.

Next, experts recommend diluting one part household bleach with four to ten parts water (depending on how thick the moss is) in a pump sprayer or bucket.

Then, directly spray or pour the mixture evenly over the moss-covered concrete, before letting it sit for about 15 minutes.

Once the moss turns brown or white, simply use your stiff-bristled broom or deck brush to scrub away the dead moss, and rinse off the residue/area completely with water until clean.

What NOT to do when using bleach

Since bleach has the power to kill moss, it’s important not to spray any nearby plants or foliage. If you do, however, experts recommend watering them before wrapping them in plastic wrap to protect them from damage.

Additionally, do NOT leave bleach on the concrete surface for more than around 15 minutes, or else it may cause discoloration to the pavers. Bear in mind that bleach is highly toxic, so take precautions when using it and keep it away from children or pets. And use gloves when handling bleach if possible.

The release of the foldable iPhone Duo is a big deal because it's Apple's first foldable phone. And it sounds as though Apple isn't going to stop at just one foldable. Or, at least, that's what Mark Gurman at Bloomberg is reporting.

In the latest installment of his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims Apple will have an entire family of foldable phones — similar to what Samsung has done with the Galaxy Z series. This could see Apple release a large foldable phone (the Duo Max), a smaller model with weaker hardware, or a Galaxy Z Flip 8-style clamshell design. It's speculated that these designs could either be a iPhone Duo SE or Duo mini.

Gurman also talks about why Apple chose the "Duo" name, rather than the often-rumored iPhone Ultra. Apparently, the company wanted a name with three letters to match Air and Pro, while also describing the dual-screen nature of the phone. Duo is a name that fits so well that Microsoft beat Apple to the punch by almost seven years.

The Duo name is also easier to add a suffix to. Gurman says that Ultra wouldn't have been as versatile, and the ideal of an Ultra Max or Ultra SE wouldn't have made sense. He may have a point, because how can a phone be "Ultra" if it's also an SE model?

We've already heard about a bigger foldable

It's still too early to say how Apple might expand the Duo lineup, and the future is going to rely on strong sales. After all, Apple reportedly had a whole bunch of plans for future mixed reality headsets, only for them to be cancelled after the Apple Vision Pro flopped. If the Duo sells as badly as the Vision Pro, Apple's foldable ambitions could be dead in the water.

At this stage it's impossible to predict what the future holds, though it's worth mentioning that the Duo does seem to be generating a lot of positive buzz. Apple is no doubt hoping that will translate into sales.

Assuming Apple does continue to produce more foldables beyond standard iPhone Duo sequels, the larger model is the one that should arrive the soonest. Because we've already heard rumors about a larger foldable device, though it has long been referred to as a foldable iPad, rather than a larger foldable iPhone.

If the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are anything to go by, a hypothetical iPhone Duo Max would probably add an inch or two to the larger screen size. In the same way that the iPhone Duo is essentially an iPad mini hiding inside a phone, I can foresee the Max model being similar to the 11-inch iPad 11 — albeit with a slightly smaller screen and a better display. Or, in other words, something half the size of the rumored foldable iPad.

There have been whispers of a foldable MacBook as well, though recent reports claim that this device may have been canceled. Which is probably for the best, considering you'd have to account for the fact laptops already fold and need the physical keyboard to stay functional.

Going smaller or cheaper?

While the idea of a cheaper foldable is certainly very appealing, we're unlikely to see an iPhone Duo SE arrive in the near future. For starters, cheaper foldables from other phone makers are practically non-existent.

The closest we've got have had so many cutbacks that they're not actually worth buying, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. While this doesn't discount the idea of Apple offering a cheaper version, especially if the Duo lineup takes off in earnest and production costs can be reduced, it's not going to happen soon.

That said, a clamshell design could still be in the cards. Reports from earlier in the year claimed that Apple could follow the Duo with a clamshell-style phone. This would be Apple's take on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 or the Motorola Razr, and would be a more compact take on an ordinary phone rather than an iPad-equivalent.

While Samsung is rumored to have canceled the Galaxy Z Flip 9, it's unlikely that this would factor into Apple's decision making all that much. Apple is known for doing its own thing, and if it sees value in a flip phone then Samsung's plans aren't of much consequence,

The launch of an iPhone Flip would also likely force Samsung's hand and push it to do something useful with its flip phones, rather than just ignoring them and letting things stagnate for several years.

But for now Apple has to contend with the fact that the iPhone Duo needs to do well. Mark Gurman has a mostly-positive spin on things, predicting extreme supply shortages and scalping overseas.

Insta360 X6

Insta360 is never happy resting on its laurels. The Insta360 X5 was already the best 360 camera on the market, but its maker wasn’t going to sit still and let everyone else catch up. The Insta360 X6 beefs up image quality versus the X5, not to mention low light performance, battery life, waterproofing and internal audio quality.

It’s going to face tough competition next year from DJI, which just launched an 8K/60fps-capable camera, although not quite in time for these awards, and with limited (if any) U.S. availability. So as it stands, in 2026 the X6 is still the best 360 camera you can buy in the States.

The Lomography Lomo MC-A 35mm is a masterclass in adding a modern twist to a film camera. It’s the brand’s best built camera yet, thanks to its premium metal body. Sublime to handle, the Lomo MC-A 35mm gives you plenty of manual control over shutter speed, ISO and aperture, and it features an accurate autofocus system. Image quality is beautiful and sharp with vivid colors.

I can’t compliment the Lomo MC-A 35mm’s design enough. It feels nearly as good-looking as most mirrorless cameras. Lomography has knocked it out of the park, and as modern film cameras go, no other holds a candle to the Lomo MC-A 35mm right now.

Genre: Biographical crime drama anthology series

What it's about: "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" marks the fourth season of the hit anthology series "Monster." This time, we're diving into the life of Lizzie Borden (Ella Beatty). She was famously (or infamously) acquitted of the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. But people are convinced to this day that she's guilty.

Why you should watch it: This is the second edition of "Monster" not to involve show creator Ryan Murphy. It's also the second edition to feature Charlie Hunnam, this time as Lizzie's father, Andrew. Hopefully, things go better this time; "The Ed Gein Story" was not well received, despite Hunnam's performance.

'Stranger Things: Tales From '85' season 2

Genre: Animated sci-fi series

What it's about: "Stranger Things: Tales from '85" is back for another season, and it's still set in Hawkins and full of 80s nostalgia. In fact, it picks up right after the events of the first season. But while the gang of Eleven (Brooklyn Davey Norstedt), Mike (Luca Diaz), Will (Benjamin Plessala), Lucas (Elisha “EJ” Williams), Max (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport), and Nikki (Odessa A’zion) are hoping things will go back to normal, a haunted woods is about to prove things are never normal in Hawkins.

Why you should watch it: This show may have new actors playing them, but it still features the original characters and locations from "Stranger Things." So if you enjoyed the original series, this animated spinoff should be easy to connect with.

'Best of the Best'

Genre: Dance comedy movie

What it's about: "Best of the Best" follows two childhood friends, Maya (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Anjali (Priyanka Kedia), who join UCLA's competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. But once there, they discover that this dance squad is even more cutthroat than getting into college was, and all that matters is winning the U.S. championship.

Why you should watch it: Technically, I don't think this is a Bollywood movie, as my research has led me to believe "Best of the Best" was filmed in New Jersey. But whether you like Bollywood dance numbers or movies like "Mean Girls" and "Bring It On," this movie seems to have something for you.

'Jo Koy: Blue in the Face'

Genre: Stand-up comedy special

What it's about: In "Blue in the Face," comedian Jo Koy returns to Netflix for his sixth special on the streaming service. This time, he's talking about wild dental disasters, getting fired from McDonald's, his veteran stepdad, and, based on this trailer, a dog repeatedly barking in your face.

Why you should watch it: Koy is one of the most popular stand-up comedians touring right now, as evidenced by the fact that he has more Netflix specials than most TV shows get seasons. So if you're looking for a new reason to laugh, this hour of stand-up is worth checking out.

"Stop! That! Train!

Genre: Action comedy disaster movie

What it's about: Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) are two stewardesses looking for work. So they sneak aboard the high-class Glamazonian Express, only to discover it's headed straight for a massive storm, better known as "Stormganza."

Why you should watch it: "Stop! That! Train!" is essentially "Airplane!" meets "RuPaul's Drag Race." And I don't mean that as an insult — it's a selling point. Watch the trailer, try not to laugh, and once you're done, add this movie to your watchlist.

‘The Traitors: New Blood’ (NBC)

Among them: a nurse, astrophysicist, funeral director, lawyer, pilot and personal trainer, none of whom can rely on reality TV experience to survive. A few will secretly become Traitors, while the rest must identify and banish them before they’re picked off.

‘MobLand’ season 2 (Paramount+)

The vibes: “Succession” but much, much bloodier.

New rivals, including cartel boss Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), only make the family feud deadlier.

‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ season 2 (Starz)

The vibes: All’s not fair in love and war and time travel.

‘Youth’ (HBO)

The vibes: Middle age as one long, horny existential crisis.

Her best friend (Sharlene Whyte) tries to play matchmaker, but Alex has her eye on Patrick (Rupert Friend), a charmingly commitment-phobic Scot.

Aussie internet speeds are undoubtedly getting faster, but there’s a strong possibility your home isn’t best prepared to take full advantage of them. There’s a simple fix… and it might be an upgrade you've been putting off.

As per Opensignal's latest report, NBN Co's Accelerate Great initiative vastly improved Australia's internet speeds, thanks to free wholesale speed boosts and the arrival of a new 2Gbps speed tier. For all their positives, however, the report found that many Australians aren’t receiving the full benefit of the vastly improved speeds due to their router, with many homes and businesses neglecting their Wi-Fi radio-wave-emitting tech.

Specifically, the data reveals that 64% of readings across the six major retail service providers (RSPs) came from older Wi-Fi generation routers — i.e. Wi-Fi 3, 4, or 5 — which may not deliver the full speed of the new tiers over Wi-Fi. More than 70% of readings for both Telstra and Vocus came from Wi-Fi 5 routers or older, whereas 55% of relative newcomer Superloop's readings came from Wi-Fi 6 routers or newer.

When it comes to top-end download speeds, the proof is in the pudding. Across all RSPs, customers on Wi-Fi 6 routers or newer sit around 500Mbps at the 90th percentile of download speeds. Comparatively, those with Wi-Fi 5 routers or lower reach between 129Mbps and 287.7Mbps — which is substantially slower.

If your Wi-Fi router is considerably older than your current plan — i.e. you've upgraded your FTTP or HFC connection to a much faster plan without replacing it — and your Wi-Fi is still slow, it may be time to upgrade to a new router. Wi-Fi dropouts can also be caused by poor placement, interference, firmware, your device or an NBN/RSP fault, so it’s worth checking out NBN Co’s Wi-Fi router guide if you’re unsure.

Newer Wi-Fi generations don't just mean new devices. Each generation brings about improvements in speed, latency, capacity or efficiency — or a combination of all four — although a newer generation doesn't automatically mean better range. Deciding what Wi-Fi generation you need depends on a few factors, but it largely relies on your preferred speed tier and your bandwidth requirements, depending on how many internet-connected devices are in your home.

Currently, Wi-Fi 6 routers or higher are a good starting point for NBN 500 plans or faster. But the Wi-Fi generation alone doesn't tell you which internet plan a router can handle: figures such as AX1800, AX3000 or BE11000 are maximum Wi-Fi speed ratings, not supported NBN plan speeds. The newest generation is Wi-Fi 7, which can deliver multi-gigabit wireless speeds with compatible devices, but if you are looking at NBN 2000, be aware that the router's WAN and LAN ports need to be 2.5Gbps or faster.

If you're considering an NBN 500 plan, I'd recommend a router with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and enough range that you don't need to be right next to it to consistently achieve top speeds. For NBN 750 and NBN 1000 plans, there's a nice sweet spot where you could easily get by on a good Wi-Fi 6 router, but you could also consider Wi-Fi 6E or a Wi-Fi 7 model with a 6GHz band if your devices support it. In a larger home, coverage and router placement — or a mesh system — may matter more than the rated speed.

The highest residential NBN wholesale speed tier available is 2,000Mbps, which is still mighty fast — and well beyond what Wi-Fi 5 can normally deliver day to day. If you have an eligible FTTP or HFC connection and want a 2Gbps plan to achieve its full potential, you'll need a router rated to handle 2Gbps internet service with at least a 2.5GbE WAN port. Wi-Fi 7 is the better option if you're buying new and want multi-gigabit wireless speeds, but a suitable Wi-Fi 6E router can work too. For the most reliable way to exceed 1Gbps on one device, you'll also want a 2.5GbE LAN port and a compatible wired device.

Here's a quick bullet-point summary of the above recommendations:

• NBN 500: Wi-Fi 6 or higher, with at least a 1GbE WAN port
• NBN 750: Wi-Fi 6 or higher, with at least a 1GbE WAN port
• NBN 1000: Wi-Fi 6 or higher, with at least a 1GbE WAN port; 2.5GbE is useful for future-proofing
• NBN 2000: Wi-Fi 7 recommended (a suitable Wi-Fi 6E router can work), plus support for 2Gbps internet service and at least a 2.5GbE WAN port

Best new router deals

If you're ready to shop for a new router, I've gathered some top-rated options below. From Wi-Fi 6 to Wi-Fi 7, I've spotted some stellar deals on new routers and mesh systems on Amazon, from brands like TP-Link, Netgear and eero.

As a router reviewer, I've been using the Amazon eero 7 router and the weatherproof eero Outdoor 7 mesh extender for a few months now, and they were super easy to set up using the companion app. I've used a trusty TP-Link Archer router at home for a while too, and it was just as easy to plug and play. Just remember that Wi-Fi generation alone doesn't tell the whole story: the Wi-Fi 7 TP-Link Archer BE220 only has Gigabit Ethernet ports, so it isn’t good for NBN 2000, while the Netgear Nighthawk RS100 has a 2.5GbE WAN port but Gigabit LAN ports, so it is less suited for wired setups. The Wi-Fi 6 Archer AX12 is also limited to Gigabit Ethernet so it can connect to an NBN 2000 service but can't fully use it. The eero 7 has two 2.5GbE ports and is the best match for NBN 2000, although Amazon rates its wireless speeds at up to 1.8Gbps, so no single Wi-Fi device will get the full 2Gbps.

The Sunday scaries are real, but your watchlist doesn’t have to make them worse. If you’re looking for something comforting to ease you into the week ahead, Prime Video added over 100 new movies in September — including a few feel-good gems worth pressing play on. I’ve rounded up three movies that offer plenty of laughs, nostalgia and low-stakes escapism, from a charming old-school sports comedy to a love letter to the magic of movie theaters and one of my favorite early-2000s guilty pleasures.

Whether you want to watch George Clooney get in over his head in a messy love triangle in "Leatherheads," revisit the communal magic of the movies in "Matinee" or spend some time with Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning in "Uptown Girls," these are the kind of movies you can throw on when you need a little pick-me-up before Monday comes 'round.

Matinee (1993)

For a charming reminder of just how special it can be to go to the movies together, look no further than "Matinee," John Goodman's war comedy from the same director as "Gremlins." Goodman leads a terrific ensemble as a shifty B-movie producer who arrives in Florida at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, using spectacle like fake protests outside the theater and schlocky horror to make his latest monster movie, "Mant!," feel like the biggest event of the decade.

Hyped to see it is teenager Gene Loomis (Simon Fenton), whose family just moved to Key West. Though "Matinee" floundered at the box office, it remains one of Dante’s most affectionate films, lovingly satirizing the B-movie genre while celebrating the simple magic of sitting in a theater and losing yourself in a movie. Especially with the threat of nuclear war looming on the horizon. So not all that unlike today.

'Uptown Girls' (2003)

Though critics largely wrote it off when it first hit theaters, "Uptown Girls" has since gained a devoted cult following, cementing its place as an early 2000s classic. It's one of my favorite guilty pleasure watches, and you better believe I was planted in front of the TV anytime it came on cable when I was growing up. Brittany Murphy stars as lovable girl failure Molly Gunn, a spoiled rock star's daughter left broke after her slimy ex Neal (Jesse Spencer) runs off with her inheritance.

Forced to grow up over night, Molly lands a job as a nanny for the most precocious 8-year-old on the planet (Dakota Fanning), whose hard-nose attitude can't quite hide how much she's struggling to keep it together now that her father is in a coma. Though they butt heads at first over wildly different personalities, they both end up growing on each other — just as Neal crash-lands back into Molly's life.

'Leatherheads' (2008)

Hollywood really gave George Clooney free rein to flex his comedic chops in the 2000s, and "Leatherheads" is one of the best examples to come from that era. Clooney directs and stars as Dodge Connelly, a charming football player past his prime trying to save his struggling team from going under in the early days of professional American football.

When Dodge discovers Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), a handsome young football star and World War I hero, he recruits him in the hopes of drawing bigger crowds. But Carter's squeaky-clean reputation catches the attention of Lexie Littleton (Renée Zellweger), a sharp newspaper reporter investigating whether Carter's heroic war story is actually true. "Leatherheads" is a great pick if you like witty banter, messy love triangles, and Clooney doing what he does best: being a lovable scoundrel.

Baltimore arrives with perennial MVP contender Lamar Jackson, while Indianapolis gets a brutal opening test against one of the AFC's most physical teams. It's a particularly important early measuring stick for the Colts.

Tyler Perry movies and Netflix go together like peanut butter and jelly, and his latest flicks never fail to shoot to the #1 spot in the Netflix top 10. This week, we got "Why Did I Get Married Again?" — reviving a franchise that's so old, I wouldn't be surprised if many subscribers don't even realize it's a reboot.

If you've already laughed, cried, and prayed through Perry's latest comedy and are looking for some more laughs to keep the good vibe train rolling, you've got your work cut out for you. 'Nonnas' (2025)

In my home, Sunday is for meal prepping. And for some seriously scrumptious vibes, I like to put on something like Vince Vaughn's "Nonnas" in the background while I cook. This dramedy from Stephen Chbosky ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower") has a solid 82% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and is inspired by a heartwarming true story — just the kind of breezy watch to get your week off on the right foot.

Vaugn stars as Joe Scaravella (Vaughn), an Italian-American from Brooklyn who finds himself at a crossroads after losing his mother and grandmother. Navigating life without their gravity feels impossible, and he finds solace in the time-honored family recipes he grew up with. He cooks up a plan to share that feeling with his community, opening up a Staten Island restaurant staffed entirely by feisty Italian grandmothers, lovingly referred to as nonnas, played by Hollywood legends Susan Sarandon, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro, and Lorraine Bracco.

'One of Them Days' (2025)

For some raunchier jokes this weekend, look no further than Keke Palmer and SZA's buddy comedy "One of Them Days." It's one of those movies I return to again and again, and one joke about a tumble-weave never fails to get a laugh. Directed by Lawrence Lamont, it follows two broke besties, Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA), left scrambling to scrounge up rent money after Alyssa's boyfriend Keshawn (Joshua Neal) leaves them high and dry.

With just hours to fork over $1,500 before their landlord kicks them out, the two set out on a madcap quest to score cash by any means necessary — and piss off a major gang banger in the process. While it has plenty of laughs, beneath the chaos and a great cameo by Katt Williams is a genuinely sweet story about showing up for who matters most to you. Palmer and SZA are hilarious together, and if you’re into comedies with a lot of heart, this one’s definitely worth watching.

'A Madea Homecoming' (2023)

I'm pretty sure it's illegal NOT to include at least one Tyler Perry movie on this list, and of the "Madea" entries he's made for Netflix so far, "A Madea Homecoming" is the only one worth watching. Its 73% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes aside, it was also the last "Madea" movie I watched with my mom before she passed, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Adapted from Perry’s stage play Madea’s Farewell Play, this comedy uses the same zany cast characters we've grown to love over the years, like Cassi Davis' Aunt Bam and David Mann Uncle Leroy Brown, this time all getting together to celebrate Madea's great-grandson's college graduation as a centerpiece for many antics. Family from far and wide come home, but drama and secrets, of course, threaten to turn the good time into a circus.

AI chatbots are not your doctors. That's the advice out of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress, which has found that in up to a third of cases AI wrongly reassures sleep apnea patients that their symptoms don't require specialist help.

“I think it is concerning that people are turning to AI for diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders," says Dr. Carleara Weiss, Ph.D., MS, RN, and Sleep Science Advisor for Aeroflow Sleep. "AI is not a trained medical professional; therefore, people should not rely on it for advice on sleep apnea treatment or symptoms.”

Symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), including snoring and fatigue, often go overlooked, resulting in under-diagnosis. Left untreated, OSA increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.

Study finds AI chatbots are wrongly reassuring sleep apnea patients

Research presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress in Barcelona, Spain, found that when presented with sleep apnea symptoms, AI chatbots would at times discourage patients from seeking specialist help.

Obstructive sleep apnea is suspected to affect roughly 1 billion members of the population, yet it's thought that 80% of cases are undiagnosed. Diagnosis relies on referrals, with experts noting that patients tend to underreport their symptoms.

During the study, researchers found that when dealing with cooperative people, chatbots correctly advised finding specialist help.

But when patients pushed back or downplayed their symptoms, the AI model would change course. Instead of suggesting referral, they would offer lifestyle changes. This happened in over a quarter of conversations.

Researchers worry that when chatbots refuse to disagree, it will cause a delay in treatment.

4 signs of sleep apnea you should never ignore

Symptoms of OSA are rarely clean cut.

“Symptoms may look different across the lifespan, such as in children, women during pregnancy, or during the menopausal transition,” explains Dr. Weiss. “Thus, if you have concerns about your sleep, please seek medical advice from a specialist.”

However, there are some common signs that often indicate sleep apnea.

1. Loud snoring

Obstructive sleep apnea is caused by the soft tissue in your throat relaxing and blocking the airway. This results in breathing difficulties and often causes loud, persistent snoring.

If you share a bed, your partner is most likely to pick up on this symptom. If you sleep alone, keep an eye out for a dry mouth, morning headaches, and bad breath — common indicators of snoring.

2. Multiple nighttime awakenings

When the airway is blocked as a result of OSA, it causes oxygen levels to drop. This sends a panic signal to your brain, waking you up. These nighttime awakenings are often brief but they can sometimes result in a significant disturbance to your sleep.

3. Daytime sleepiness

If you go to bed on time, wake up eight hours later and still feel tired, it’s likely your sleep quality is suffering. OSA might be the culprit. Even short disruptions caused by OSA can prevent you from cycling through the sleep stages, meaning you miss out on the restorative sleep you need.

As a result, you spend the next day yawning, struggling to concentrate and feeling irritable.

4. Persistent fatigue

If you're experiencing long-term sleep deprivation with no clear cause, OSA may be the culprit.

“Speak with a healthcare professional and get a referral to a specialist as soon as possible," says Dr. Weiss. "Especially if symptoms such as daytime sleepiness, fatigue, brain fog, and irritability persist for more than 4 weeks, despite attempts to improve sleep.”

Can AI chatbots provide sleep health guidance?

For many, AI has become a tool to answer any question. And Dr. Weiss notes that these powerful systems can have benefits in certain medical settings.

“AI has specific, reliable uses in sleep research and clinical practice when medical, engineering, and computer science professionals with years of experience develop it,” she explains.

That’s not the same as asking Gemini for advice on your snoring. If you want to chat with a bot about your medical queries, Dr. Weiss urges caution.

“These platforms are not developed by sleep researchers; therefore, they lack medical accountability,” she explains.

“Their algorithms were not built to perform medical assessments or interpret nuanced signals of severe symptoms or other complications.”

Dr. Weiss further explains that an AI platform should never be the final word in health.

"The FDA-approved AI for sleep research and clinical treatment does not rule out the need for in-person treatment with a trained provider."

“AI should complement, not replace, medical consultation.”

Apple's major "Surprise and Shine" event is behind us and the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable, is finally official. But there were some omissions based on the rumors, including a lack of smart home devices.

Those devices could still be on the way. Apple typically announces new MacBooks in October, and we could see some other products then as well. Here are the seven new Apple products that we could see next month.

Touchscreen MacBook Ultra with OLED

Apple has already released a surprising number of Mac laptops and desktops this year. We had the MacBook Neo, M5 MacBook Air, and M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros way back in the spring, plus late refreshes of the Mac mini and Mac Studio.

Next month we're expecting an M6 version of the iMac, which also might get some new colorways, and an M6 MacBook Pro.

But the headliner should be a new MacBook Pro (or Ultra). The big change here should be a new OLED touchscreen display, which would make it the first OLED MacBook.

OLED panels are thinner, so the Ultra should be both slimmer and lighter in both 14- and 16-inch versions. It could be powered by the as-yet-unannounced M6 Pro and M6 Max chipsets. This does mean that we might not see the Ultra until early 2027, as Apple has pushed announcing those chips into the first half of the year.

Unfortunately, all these new features and higher-tier silicon mean that the Ultra could have a starting price around $2,499 for the 14-inch model, up from $2,199 for the current M5 Pro models.

iPad mini with OLED

The iPad Pro has had an OLED display since 2024, but we could finally see an iPad mini with OLED this October. Coincidentally, the mini hasn't received an update since October 2024, when the iPad mini 7 was released.

It will likely get a faster chip, probably the A19, if not the new A20, so it can run Apple Intelligence, especially the new Siri AI. It's not clear from rumors if any other design changes will be made. However, it might be thinner and lighter since the OLED panel is thinner.

We should also see an updated entry-level iPad. As far as we're aware the only update here would be new chips.

Smart Home Devices

We warned before the iPhone event that rumors about Apple's smart home options need to be taken with a grain of salt. For years, leaks and rumor mongers have suggested that Apple is planning to introduce a suite of smart home devices, including a revamped HomePod and an AI-powered Apple TV 4K set-top box.

Rumors suggested that Apple would announce these devices during the iPhone event, which obviously did not come to fruition.

Apple seems to have finally figured out Siri AI with iOS 27. If it releases and works as pitched, we could finally start seeing Apple Home.

HomePod Home hub

Previously, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, long a reporter of the rumored HomePod updates, believed that a new HomePod mini could launch with the iPhones alongside the rumored HomePod Home hub.

However, right before the iPhone event, Gurman cheekily tweeted, "If you don't see the Apple TV, HomePod mini, home display and touch MacBook today, don't worry. It's only September."

Several different iterations of this device have been rumored, including one with a $1,000 robot arm. The most common version involves a wall-mounted touchpad or a HomePod speaker with a touch display about the size of an iPad mini.

This device would have a FaceTime camera for video calls and presence sensors to initiate smart home routines.

HomePod mini 2

A new HomePod mini might also debut, but it might not be as big of an upgrade as the Hub. Most rumors suggest that it will feature a new chip and audio improvements. It will probably get new colors.

The HomePod mini 2 has been on our rumor radar since at least 2023. The current version debuted in 2020, and like the next device, is long overdue for an update.

Apple TV 4K 2026

Like the HomePod series, Apple hasn't released a new version of the Apple TV 4K since 2022. We're long overdue for an upgrade — even if it's only a more powerful chip for stronger performance.

Previously, it was suggested that a new Apple TV could feature the A17 Pro chip, but it's more likely it'll get the new A20 or, to save some money, last year's A19. The device should also get the rumored N2 chip for better Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Outside of chips, the big upgrade would be Siri AI, which could let you connect the Apple TV as a hub for smart devices. One rumor suggested that Apple might release a set-top box with a camera, which would allow for FaceTime calls and gesture-based controls.

However, a rumored refresh of the Apple TV has been making the rounds for multiple years now. I won't believe this one until it actually happens.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been a strong reminder of why Samsung has been able to dominate the foldable phone market for so long. While it's true the company hasn't had a lot of competition, the fresh new form factor of the Fold 8 seems to have reinvigorated the interest in Galaxy foldables — just in time for Apple to jump onto the foldable bandwagon with the iPhone Duo.

The simple fact that this is a foldable iPhone means the Duo has the potential to offer Samsung the first serious competition for several years. The phone hasn't even been released yet, and we've already identified key ways that the iPhone Duo beats the similarly-styled Galaxy Z Fold 8. But what about the other way round?

Samsung has almost a decade of foldable experience, and that shows in the ways its latest release compares to Apple's first attempt. Here are seven ways the Galaxy Z Fold 8 beats the iPhone Duo.

It's lighter and thinner

Rumors suggested that the iPhone Duo would be the thinnest phone Apple has ever built, at 4.5mm (0.17-inches) thick when unfolded. That wasn't the case, and we now know that the iPhone Duo is 5.2mm (0.2 inches) thick — which is slightly less than the 5.6mm iPhone Air.

Meanwhile the Galaxy Z Fold 8 really is 4.5mm thick when it's unfolded, making it one of the thinnest phones you can go out and buy. It's also much lighter than the iPhone Duo, weighing 201 grams (7.09 ounces) to Apple's 254 grams (8.96 ounces). That weight actually makes the Duo one of the heaviest iPhones Apple has ever released.

The difference between the two may not seem like much, it does mean that the Z Fold 8 is likely to be more comfortable to use.

A cheaper price tag

Foldable phones are not cheap, with both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo costing several hundred dollars more than their non-folding counterparts. But when it comes to the actual asking price, Samsung has the edge.

The cheapest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is $1,899, which gets you a model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. Apple's cheapest iPhone Duo offers the same level of memory and storage, but it costs $1,999 — $100 more.

That price disparity sticks around for the 512GB and 1TB options as well. Samsung charges $2,099 and $2,499, respectively, while Apple's prices are both $100 more at $2,199 and $2,599. Samsung doesn't offer a 2TB storage option; the 2TB Duo comes in at $3,199.

Better multitasking

Multitasking has never been Apple's strong suit, especially on the iPhone, and it looks like iPhone Duo won't be at quite the same level as the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The Z Fold 8 supports up to three windows at once, as well as five floating app windows that can sit wherever you like on screen. This is also possible on Apple's iPads, but iPhone Duo only supports two Split View windows at a time.

Considering one of the benefits of iPhone Duo is the ability to carry an iPad-like device in your pocket, the limited nature of Split View means you're missing out on an important productivity feature other devices have offered for years.

DeX

While desktop modes have slowly started making a comeback on Android phones, Apple has always seen fit to completely ignore them. The Z Fold 8 offers Samsung's DeX desktop mode, while the iPhone Duo lacks any sort of equivalent feature.

The idea behind DeX is that you plug your Galaxy phone into a monitor, at which point the phone loads up a desktop-like UI on the larger screen. That way you can use your phone as a desktop computer, without needing to carry around a laptop or tablet everywhere you go.

It's a fairly niche feature, and it's reliant on having access to a spare display. But it is a way to get more use out of a Z Fold 8, and put all the performance hardware to good use. It's unfortunate that the iPhone Duo is limited to its own display and UI.

Physical SIM slot

Apple has been betting big on eSIMs in recent years, and some regions (including the U.S.) can't use physical SIM cards in newer models of iPhone.

Sadly, while European versions of the iPhone 18 Pro still come with a physical SIM card slot, that won't be the case with iPhone Duo. Apple has confirmed that the phone will be eSIM only all around the world. So no matter where you live, there's zero opportunity to use a physical nano SIM card.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 still supports both eSIM and physical SIM cards, which gives users a lot more choice and flexibility. It's pretty small in the grand scheme of things, but as someone that has to swap phones fairly often, the process of transferring eSIMs to a new device is nowhere near as simple as swapping a physical card between devices.

16GB RAM option

The iPhone Duo comes with 12GB of RAM no matter which storage variant you get. Samsung starts off by offering 12GB on its cheapest models, but those buying the 1TB storage option will actually get an additional 4GB of RAM thrown in — for a total of 16GB.

Why does that matter? It all comes down to why memory prices have been skyrocketing over the past year: AI processing. AI features are heavily reliant on RAM, and generally speaking the more memory that's available, the faster things will run. That's particularly important for on-device AI processing, which is faster and more secure than offloading those tasks to the cloud.

Historically iPhones haven't needed as much RAM as Android phones, on account of the strong links between Apple's hardware and software. But not even Apple can bypass AI's need for memory, and we'll have to wait and see how the Duo (and A20 Pro chipset) performs in AI benchmarking tests before we can say how much better or worse it could have been with more RAM.

8K video recording

The iPhone Duo is no slouch in the camera department, at least not as far as we can tell from the specs and limited hands-on time. While the actual camera hardware looks fairly similar to that of the Z Fold 8 (48MP main lenses compared to 50MP), there is one thing Samsung has a leg up on — ultra-high-resolution video recording.

Like many Samsung flagships, the Z Fold 8 is capable of recording video at 8k resolution at 30 frames per second or 4K resolution at 120fps. Meanwhile, the iPhone Duo is capped at 4K resolution video recording, with frame rates of 120fps on the main camera and 60fps on the ultrawide.

Admittedly, the opportunities to play 8K video are pretty slim for the average phone user — so recording in such high resolution is just a waste of storage space. But it is a key area in which Samsung outpaces Apple, which might be important to you.

But if you're getting "50 Shades" vibes from that movie synopsis, know that this Park Hyun-jin-directed flick is more lighthearted and playful than that melodramatic franchise. "Seohyun and Lee Jun-young deliver sweet and wholesome performances," wrote critic James March of the South China Morning Post, praising the film for its "commendable effort to lift the blindfold on a stigmatised subculture."

'Sweet & Sour'

Based on the novel "Initiation Love" by Kurumi Inui, this sweet 2021 romantic comedy from Lee Gye-byeok delves into that all-too-relatable issue of how to make a long-distance relationship work. The story centers on Jang-hyuk (Jang Ki-yong), who meets a nurse named Da-eun (Chae Soo-bin) while hospitalized in Incheon with hepatitis.

After he gets healthier, they kick off a relationship together, only for Jang-hyuk to have to move away to Seoul when he lands a temporary but demanding corporate job. Soon, the work pressures and miles between them manifest as emotional distance between the couple, until a late-in-the-movie twist leaves you rethinking everything that happened in the hour-plus prior.

'20th Century Girl'

Written and directed by Bang Woo-ri in her feature film debut, this late-'90s-set coming-of-age rom-com revolves around Na Bo-ra (Kim You-jung), a 17-year-old high-schooler who has promised her lovesick best friend Yeon-du (Roh Yoon-seo) that she'll keep close tabs on her pal's crush while the latter girl is in the US for surgery. However, things become complicated when Bo-ra starts tailing the boy and inadvertently falls for him herself.

Also starring Byeon Woo-seok and Park Jung-woo, the charming 2022 title was widely praised by critics for its heart and humor (it has an 86% approval rating), including Variety's Claire Lee, who wrote: "20th Century Girl' does manage to add to the timeworn theme of first love by providing a moving examination of what makes certain moments and certain people unforgettable."
