7. Backing Up Step-by-Step: Part I

To start NTBackup press WinKey+R together, type ntbackup.exe and click OK. Or click Start, Run, then type ntbackup.exe in the text field and click OK.

From here on we'll take you through the backup process a screen at a time.

First you'll see the introductory page of the NTBackup wizard. Click Next to move on.

On the second page you tell NTBackup if you want to back up files or restore files you have already backed up.

Here you select what is to be backed up. Only the last option lets you pick the files, etc. that you want backed up. For the sake of brevity let's pick the last option.

On the next wizard page you select the specific items you want to back up. We're backing up the folder that contains various items associated with MobilityGuru's review of Alienware's m9700 gaming notebook.

On this wizard page we specify where the backup will go. Drive V: is a share on a Network Attached Storage device. We also name the backup.
