2. MyFax

MyFax offers packages ranging from $10 a month to $40 a month depending on the volume of pages sent or received. Beyond the page counts all packages include the same core features, and there sure are a lot of them.

While the main dashboard is not nearly as simple as the one found in TrustFax, it does include a few things that TrustFax does not. First off, every page includes the Toll Free Customer Service phone number, email, a contact from link for support and a help button with documentation. Sure, this is simple stuff, but it sure is great to have it there when you run into trouble.

In particular, I wanted to figure out how to send faxes directly from Microsoft Office, which is something that MyFax supports. It isn't a feature that is obvious from the dashboard, though. But with the aid of the help menu, which links to an informative video tutorial (http://www.myfax.com/include/tutorials/Microsoft_Office_Integration/), it was a painless exercise to get up and running with faxing from Office.

The Contact Books address book feature is also solid, providing both import and export capabilities.

Sending a fax with MyFax also offers a lot of additional functionality including the ability to send a fax at a scheduled time, a choice of multiple cover page styles and the ability to optionally send a fax to up to 50 different numbers.

oh, i forgot to add that i'm paying just $4.50 a month in 101fax. that's definitely more than half the rates of the providers mentioned here!

Efax has received a lot of customer complaints. There's a write up over at http://computerfaxing.org that compares some of the other services, and talks about what to look out for. MyFax got a high review, along with ringcentral - but I'd watch out for Efax.
