For any mom that likes to make the analog into digital and turn the digital into analog (otherwise known as scanning documents and images, and printing documents and images), a workhorse printer is needed to aid in efficiency and creativity. HP’s C4680 couldn’t be much simpler—it's stripped of advanced features, like wireless connectivity and even camera-standard PictBridge compatibility—but leaves you with a good deal: 23 pages per minute in color, a 1.45" color display, and even EnergyStar compliance. We think the photos that come out of this machine look brighter, crisper, and more detailed than those we get at the local drugstore. So you buy mom 1000 songs, she hears one she likes, and has to skip the other 999 to hear it again? What is sandisk thinking? Why not just get mom a real mp3 player, or perhaps a FM radio?

There had to be a catch: After all, how else would a record company allow 1000 songs to be sold for $40? That's why I wrote that it reminded me a lot of the Internet Radio model (Pandora, etc.).

My girlfriend is planning on getting her mother a netbook, probably the MSI Wind. It's sort of a cheaper alternative to the Aspire Timeline.

I'm sure netbooks are going to be extremely popular this year for Mothers Day. I'm not aware of any models that have come out in the last month, which is why I didn't include any (almost everything in this gift guide is very new).
