If you’re already a dual-service subscriber, Media Manager is free, and that makes it a pretty sweet deal compared to some of the other options we’ve reviewed. Playback quality for both photos and music is decent. Compared to tiny digital photo frames or perpetually lame “radio” channels, stepping into a nifty app like Media Manager can’t lose. But, you can't have Verizon FiOS until it gets to your neighborhood. Click here to find out if it already has.

Thanks for the review. Will Media Manager work with cablevision? Or does cablevision have something similar to Media Manager?

FIOS is a few miles up the road, though it looks like it will be a few more years before it gets to our neighborhood.

Windows PC required :-( If it is free then it might be ok, but if it is $20/mo as merl2h3 said.... Let's see, that's $240 year. I could buy a popcorn hour box outright for less than that and the PCH does more.

I had steak and eggs... The point is, just like LightWeightX, I too have FiOS "down the road" with no estimation in sight when they will expand into my area. Seems to be springing up but takes FOREVER to expand into the surrounding areas and Verizon doesnt post any schedules (probably for competitive reasons). First they say "within a year it should be in your area"; I'm still waiting.

Media Manager only added $4.00 a month to my fios bill. But you have to have DVR service and settop box first. If you have to upgrade to the DVR, that's $16 bucks a month, so yeah, I guess you could have to pay $20 a month if you're starting with a standard settop box. But then you have DVR, and the ability to play all the media files on your computer over your tv and connected surround system. If you're familiar with Apple TV, it's just like that....
