How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S4

How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S4
By
Galaxy S4 Rooting Guide

Right off the bat, Samsung's newest smartphone has been put through the wringer by Android developers and enthusiasts. In no time at all, they made it possible to root the device for superuser access using the handy CF-Autoroot program by the excellent Chainfire. We'll show you how in this visual tutorial!

Warning: Rooting gives you much more control and options for your device, but it does entail a bit of risk. Mistakes in the process can render your phone inoperable, and (at the very least) rooting your phone quite possibly voids the warranty. Consider this fair warning, but if you're adventurous enough to give it a shot, or already a trained hand at rooting other devices, then read on!

So Tom's, how much are the Helium and SMS Backup+ people paying you for this crap article? The reason I ask this is you sublty placed the disclaimer "If you're using the AT&T or Verizon Wireless models of the S4, you're out of luck, as the bootloader for those versions is locked. Attempting to root through the CF-Autoroot method may brick your device." on slide #3, which should have been at the front of this article. I would suspect that the majority of folks fall into this category. But no, it occurs after slide#2 where the potential puchase of these backup utilities take place.

This also voids the 2 year warranty from Samsung that you paid for.

@sundragon... there are several possible reasons why you may want to root your android phone. instead of waiting around on samsung to release a new update to android you can use the newest google stock rom. you can also use custom roms like miui or cyanogenmod which have many very good extra features that you just dont find in stock or manufacturer roms. some roms are even better on battery use than stock roms. some very usefull apps like titanium backup need root access. even if running your stock mod, rooting allows you to remove bloatware or overclock an older phone to give better performance.
