Another gift for iPhone and iPod Touch users, Google rolled out a mobile version the virtual tourism application Google Earth. The free software offers surprisingly good 3D performance and utilizes the accelerometer in the phone to adjust perspective on the fly when viewing things like mountainous terrain.  The software can also connect to devices’ location info, allowing users to zoom into the topography of their current area. Users can also enable layers that add icons linking to geo-located photos and Wikipedia entries.
