An early gift for Webmasters, Google Friend Connect gives Website owners the ability to plug free social networking features into their sites. Users of sites with Friend Connect can log in using their IDs from Google,Yahoo, AIM, OpenID, or Twitter and add onsite ratings, communicate with other users of the site, and access other social features without having to sign-up with each site directly. The service might be a bit of coal in Facebook’s stocking, though. That company launched a similar service at the same time.
