The work of even the most masterful digital photographer can’t be fully appreciated if it resides only on a computer screen. For serious amateur photographers who want to share their creations with others, or hang their craft on the walls at home, a quality photo-printer is ideal. HP’s B8550 won’t necessarily save money for those who want to print 4x6 snapshots—you can do those prints at the drug store—but for people who want large prints, owning this printer is a great value compared to using a professional photo lab’s services.

This unit prints up to 13x19-inch photos, and when we saw one of those prints come out of the paper tray at Tom’s Guide HQ, we gasped: with virtually no editing, our print was nearly flawless. The printer is big—almost two feet wide, and nearly 17 lbs heavy—but it brings near-professional quality printing to the home, and that can be very satisfying to photo-geeks who want prints on their own schedule. Print from a computer, direct from a camera, or from a flash memory card, at up to 1200x1200 dpi.

The blond model is a fan.

The brunette is Chris the Managing editor's wife.

Yeah, she's beautiful but she has no respect for hardware. Apparently she even throws it at his head when he deserves it :)

Just the cardboard boxes. Have you seen some of the clipped contacts that motherboard vendors leave hanging off the bottom of their boards? Ouch, those would seriously hurt...

What are all the gifts expensive things? What's wrong with the $25~75 ranges? :(

Very best,

Oh,

And why all the comments about the girls? You don't come here to look at them. You come here for tech and stuff. If you want girls, there's way more websites out there. Hell, google can give you more. So what's the deal with a bunch of folk always commenting on it. And TOM's, what the hell guys, you don't have to put a girl next to a stupid machine to get someone to look at it. Not that I'm complaining, mind.

Cheers,

Using attractive models when displaying product is a time-honored tradition!
Or it could have given the staff something to do for a while besides just review gadgets.

C'mon folks, sniping at the models on this site shows a lack of class.

We have two ladies who are poking fun at a time-honored tradition as has been mentioned. Smile and acknowledge their spirit.

Should you however feel compelled to take aim at the beautiful people, may I recommend those useless individuals who don't get out of bed for less than $50k.

The blond model looks like she's dressed for halloween. It's probably her long hair, and the dark makeup.

As a gadget / tech guy, I'd say I'd be thrilled to receive nearly any of these gifts on this list. There's only a few of them that I wouldn't really go crazy over.

So if anyone is reading this looking for a gift for someone like this, then it's a pretty good list.

Mundane as it may seem, the PowerSquid would be awesome to get as a gift.
