Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC7b Headphones

December is always a busy month for the Tom’s team. Besides the holidays rearing their joy-and-toy-filled heads with gift guides and contests, we must also prepare for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. To make matters even more complicated, this year we’re moving offices, which throws a wrench into our fun-filled plans. For those of us planning to actually, you know, take a vacation, things get even trickier.

Luckily, I’m blissing out. Amidst movers and packing, and power tools drilling our furniture off the walls, my ears are covered by the cushiony caress of Audio-Technica’s QuietPoint ATH-ANC7b noise-canceling headphones. Not only to they feel good, but they block out the office chaos around me pretty well. These headphones also happen to be a lot cheaper than the biggest name-brands in the noise cancellation business (rhymes with pose--my frequent flyer dad owns the equivalent model and loves it), but to my non-audiophile ears the QuietPoints are equally capable of clarity and a wide range of sounds.

I bet they’ll be even better once I hit the road. I can’t wait to take these headphones with me on my flight to middle east later this month. Spending a full day in flight with these cans means I can tune out screaming babies and catch a nap or two. The 5.2-inch cable will let me stretch out on the plane while using a splitter to share my iPhone tunes with the Mister. And because this headset requires only a single AAA battery for power, I don’t have to worry about using a power converter to charge it when I arrive at my destination.

These headphones would make a great gift because they transport worker bees and the sleep-deprived into their own little worlds of concentration. In the words of the inspiring comedienne Tina Fey, “I want to go to there.”

Speaking of worker bees, check out the following pages to see what goodies the Tom’s team has been using throughout the year. This is the stuff we held on to—gear that we like so much we’d rather not send it back to where it came from. These items—from tiny stocking stuffers to major investments—made an impression on people who’ve seen and tested it all, so you know they’re worth a look.

Nothing like bagging a bottle of wine for under a tenner only to discover it tastes GREAT.

As a former heavyweight myself, I love the way the George Foreman grills extract most of the grease from burgers.

And if you tip the trays just right, you can drizzle it all on top once the burger is cooked to perfection!

It makes perfect sense Rachel would have red hair. So feisty, she is.

Yeah...so Jane is hot. And the geeky-ness only adds to it.

A 10 year old child could make better photos... And this is the quality you get at Tomshardware. Sadly, the articles are of similar quality, too here...

Yes, because photos in a "what we are using" picture story are totally indicative of the photo quality you normally see around here.

Is that you holding the George Foreman grill, Jane? Because the girl in that photo looks like she's 15. (Please note... this is not criticism, I'm just curious).

Did he say MAC Mini has better hardware quality than you could build yourself? For 900$ and no peripherals?

Haha, this thread is so great.

Yes, it's me in both photos and it's nice to know I could pass for a kids movie ticket. Being a teenager had way more benefits than being a twenty-something!

Time to throw away the moisturizer?

That's okay, they think I have red hair. Wish I did!

So, I guess that means a junior editor IS a teenager. Perhaps that explains the grammar, syntax, and double-word errors that sometimes creep into articles.

So, I guess that means you can't read?

Also... she's the Senior Editor. Have a nice day, fellow internet user! (It's Friday... no sense in being a downer!)

Isn't your husband a red head? Order yourself up some ginger babies and live vicariously through your children! That's what all good mothers do. Force them to perform like monkeys while you're at it.

Of course I know JMcE is a senior editor; I read just fine, thank you. As young as she looks, my comment implied that the junior editors must be even younger, perhaps not yet experienced enough to catch many errors.

So funny when people have to explain their put downs.

Would love to receive that Aerator. But is it really that much better than just swirling the wine in the glass before sipping (as we all know we should when enjoying wine, right?)?
