Rachel, don't you think the unread email count on your homescreen gives a sufficient indications for newly received emails?
I don't have an iPhone myself, but I assume that the red circle with 47 in it indicates your unread emails, right?

^^It looked blue to me, but there is definitely a circle indicating the unread emails. Hmm, Rachael, it beeps and gives you a clear indication on how many emails are unread... how annoying do you want the email notification to be?

And the fact that it offers live TV.
But those are just minor flaws with the iPhone.
