GPS Lunch Hour

GPS Lunch Hour

Rachel Rosmarin and Ben Meyer use the GPS functions in both a standalone Garmin satnav and the iPhone 3G to find culinary treats. Both units have their limitations, but can they cut down on the office bickering?

The Garmin did what it's supposed to, as well as Any other Brand dashtop, Take you to the Address in the Quickest and or Shortest time/distance possible.

IF Every Restaraunt would submit their Parking area's, that'd be different. But they don't

I love how fail this review is.

I believe the Garmin did fine - honestly, how is it supposed to know about strange parking unless someone tells them?

The iPhone also did what it was supposed to do, but in the future it will do even more, such as giving you real-time directions, because the software is VERY changeable thanks to the app store!

And no, this "small" GPS antenna business is both wrong and old news. The fact of the matter is that the GPS is just as good as in any stand-alone unit. Garmin already has working software for the iPhone 3G, so now we are simply waiting for them to forge some sort of agreement with Apple.

So as it looks to me iphone has the most pathetic gps I've ever seen. It just could not keep up with a moving car and no software update is doing to fix it. There is nothing I hate more than lagging gps especially on highway.

I encountered many of the same problems Tom's Guide did while using the Garmin. The easiest solution for me was to move the unit to the far driver's side of the windshield and reduce the volume down to the point where the passenger can not hear it. This effectively removed my wife from the navigation process.

Hey, get your Garmin the Update! My Garmin works a WHOLE LOT better than the one you were using! I live in the Detroit area and it even knows about all the weird U-Turns that are in our area. I even took it to Seattle and It found my sister's house - she claims that NOBODY's GPS or map service has ever done that before.
