I just bought an HP notebook which sports a <b>VIA</b> chipset. Sure enough, I get <b>stutters</b> and <b>misses</b> in the audio channel when I am playing certain games.

My question is: <b>Will installing extra drivers/patches/etc. help fix this problem like it would on a desktop system?</b>

I have the <b>HP Pavillion zt1195</b> running WinXP Home with factory installed drivers/software.
