Hi,

This is my current media center system:
Shuttle XPC SN95G5 nForce3 chipset v2.0 motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor
2GB DDR400 memory
Sapphire ATI X800 Pro video card w/256MB memory
Liteon Dual-Layer DVD Burner
Seagate 300GB SATA harddrive 7200rpm 8MB cache

I was trying to play a HD blue-ray ripped movie that was 23 Gigs, and basically couldnt do it. Thing stuttered a lot and was pretty much unplayable.

What is the source of this error? The cpu? Graphics card? Overall system or mobo limits?

Would upgrading to the ATI 3850 and this processor (Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4800+ 2.5GHz) help I wonder? This upgrade would cost me a bit more than $200.

What do people think, would this fix my playback issues or is it kind of hopeless and I would be better off upgrading to a new shuttle (or something similar)?

Would love to hear thoughts!

How is your system connected to the monitor and what resolution is the monitor set at? I don't know much about HD content, but when I tried download an 720p Movie Preview and watch it on my VGA connected X1800XL (monitor @ 1680x1050), I got a lot of stuttering. When I tried to watch the same preview on my DVI connected 8800GTS-640, it played fine.
