My Kyocera 6035 smartphone is slowly becoming useless...there is an enormous
amount of noise (crackling, etc.) being sent by my handset to all callers,
rendering it useless as a phone. It is quite noticable when the phone is
moved around even the slightest bit, suggesting a short somehwere? There are
no -- I repeat no -- 6035s left in Verizon inventory to swap out my phone. I
qualify for the two-year upgrade credit in July, and Verizon has already
permitted me the $100 credit early. Trouble is, as of right now there is
exactly one Palm OS phone in the stable, and it is the $500 (lucky me...only
$400 with the credit) Kyocera 7135. The only other possibility is shipping
out the 6035 to Kyocera for repair -- who knows how much *that* will cost?
So I can get a new non-PDA phone and carry around the 6035 as my Palm; or
suffer a little longer and then switch in July to Sprint, with more Palm OS
options; or send the phone to Kyocera; or wait until Verizon carries the
Trio. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas?

I guess I'll be the first to suggest checking eBay if you haven't
already. I have a Sprint 6035 that I may get the MSL for and use it on
Verizon, but for now it's just a spare phone. I absolutely loved using a
PDA phone. I bought it for close to nothing (after rebate) when it was
being clearanced out and I hope to get the 7135 when it gets clearanced
(I would think pretty soon). So check eBay and/or wait for the 7135 to
drop in price on clearance.

If you're balking at the 7135 because of +price+, why are you thinking
of going to Sprint? Their phones aren't any cheaper. Their Samsung
PlamOS4 smartphone has a smaller display, no mmc/sd slot, and costs
about the same as the Kyocera, and the Treo is, as of last November,
more expensive.

If you are insured, the insurance carrier has 6035's in stock [my most
recent inventory check was three weeks ago] and will ship one as an exact
replacement.
