Where art thou 9700?
Forum Graphic & Displays : Graphics Cards - Where art thou 9700?
Ok so it's been launched, but where can we get it from? It's meant to be in some places today, so where are these some places I wonder? Can we buy direct from any vendors? I'm in the UK, but I'd also buy from the US if I could get it faster.
Yah the card came out at quakecon. I though someone would be selling it on e-bay but i have looked and have not found it. ATI said they were shiping the 9700 out to salers on the 19 (today). If anyone know of a place that is shiping them out anytime sone please post link. Thanks
ATI is now shipping the R9700 Gamer Bundle for $449US ($699 CDN). For that price you get the R9700 + the ATI REMOTE WONDER.
Intelligence is not merely the wealth of knowledge but the sum of perception, wisdom, and knowledge.
I believe the actual date of shipment to your home (if you buy one online as a pre-launch sale) and the date they'll be on shelves is Sept 9th.
"Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one"
Yes i just say the Gamer Bundle at ATI website. Looks very cool :-) Iam ordering one tomight with 3 day shiping hope it will be here by friday. I dont think its a peroder. YAY

Nope, you buy it today, they ship it today. You should receive it by the end of the week. I repeat: <b>THIS IS NOT A PRE-ORDER. YOU CAN PURCHASE AN R9700 TODAY FROM ATI</b>.

when will it be at say, bestbuy?
"Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one"
I believe Best Buy said Sept. 9. Other places will probably have it sooner.

Yah I per-order it at bestbuy they siad they will not have it till the sep 9th. Then today pre-order it at ati.com and it will be at my house on friday :-)
Wow.... that sure is real nice. Too bad I don't have that kind of money though
.

ATI sets the EST at 399 and then sells it for 499 dollars. I´ll just wait when some "actual" stores get it.
<font color=red>I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I´m all out of bubblegum...</font color=red>
One local store I know here sells it for 610$CDN since yesterday, but too much demand. It's back ordered today. For reference 610$CDN is about 389$US.
ATI sells it with the Remote Wonder as part of a Gamer Pack for 699$CDN (446$US). What the heck would a gamer do with the remote. I sure don't need that. Please someone tell me what's the use of the remote for gamers.
And it's not possible to buy only the card from ATI.
<font color=red>A platform is not an oil rig.</font color=red>
The Remote wounder is good when listening to music or video. Thats not good for games them self but i dont know any gamers that done listen to lots of music. Its jsut another cool thing to have on your rig. Nothing like have a lan at a friends house and siting acrosse the room and controling the music to make your friends want on too.
But yah ATI should be selling just the card. I guess they had to many Remote Wonders. But iam looking forward to my remote :-)
The Remote is really a multimedia accessory not a gaming accessory. First of all, you can use the Remote as a mouse. Secondly, it will allow you to launch pre-set ATI multimedia apps (ATI DVD, ATI TV, ATI FILE PLAYER, ATI CD AUDIO, ATI VIDEO CD, etc) and it also can be programmed. One advantage may be if you connect your sound card to an amplifier or Dolby Digital Decoder and then you have optical cables going all the way to your living room to bookshelf speakers. With a press of a button, you can relay music to your living room or anywhere else. Or maybe, you can turn on the DVD as you go to your computer or whatever.

I know. It looks soooooo neet. Too bad I don't have an AGP slot though...
Bill looked down, frightened.
"I said <b>VENUS</b> fly trap."
Bill's relief was evident.
Yes, I know that. But it's odd that ATI sells it as part of a "Gamer" Pack.
Like Shivers said, ATI must have been stuck with a boat load of Remotes!
I don't need the remote, I'll just wait for the Remote-free version.

How do you survive??!!

He's a programmer, he spends his life with coffee, sitting looking for that single letter in a code word that has bugged an entire 500000 lines of code!
It's weird, I thought programmers are well paid. So why is Slvr not owning something else than just a 500MHZ celeron!

Is the opportunity to earn money by working, free?
Pure you I have AGP slot. But Geforce 2 MX PCI :-(
I need this 9700 upgrade.
and to answer about the remote jsut get them both and sell the remote on E-bay. :-)
Wow aren't you clever?
<i>Past mistakes may make you look stupid, but avoiding future ones will make you look smart!</i>
if someone wants to sell his REMOTE WONDER, please inform me, I will buy it. pm or mail me to razvancornel@hotmail.com
A finnish company is selling it for 549 euros. About the same in dollars.
<font color=red>I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I´m all out of bubblegum...</font color=red>
WOW
! How expensive is that!!!
<font color=red>A platform is not an oil rig.</font color=red>
About $500USD I'd estimate.
<i>Past mistakes may make you look stupid, but avoiding future ones will make you look smart!</i>
Actually, 537$US (839$CDN) as of today.
That's a major rip off!
It can't be all due to transportation costs overseas, can it?
<font color=red>A platform is not an oil rig.</font color=red>
No, it's probably just some people trying to rip you off... but since it's the only place that sells them over there, they'll probably have plenty of buyers.

Bummer!

There´s no way I can afford to buy the card localy. And ATI isn´t even supposed to sell their own cards in europe, that´s another good reason for me to buy one online.
Can you guys tell me of any good, trustworthy, online-store that ship to europe?
<font color=red>I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I´m all out of bubblegum...</font color=red>
I don't know about the situation in the U.S., but in Canada very few stores have it. I know of one store here in Montreal that had some for a day and when out of stock in hours. I looked for places across Canada and nobody seems to have some in stock. Your best solution would be to order directly from <A HREF="http://https://apps.ati.com/naorder/index.asp" target="_new">ATI</A> in Toronto as I'll do. In the Country selection, choose <b>Other</b>.
Hope this helps!

Wow, you're getting a R9700!! (give me money
)
<i>Past mistakes may make you look stupid, but avoiding future ones will make you look smart!</i>
Yup! Though, I'm having second thoughts. I'll probably wait until beginning of September to see if greater availability makes the price go down a bit. (I'm not rich, Buddy. I just save money on every paycheck going towards the purchase of the next big thing now and then.
)
<font color=red>A platform is not an oil rig.</font color=red>
My 9700 is set to arrive today. I ordered it directly from ATI w/ the remote. Total price came to $469 U.S. I tracked it at UPS and it is due in today. I cannot wait to fire it up. I think we have to give props to ATI for delivering what they promised. Alot of people are saying that you will not see the benefits of this card until DX9 games come out. I do not agree with that. Tell me that, when I am playing all my current games MAXED OUT with AA MAXED out. Computers are all about NOW. Things do get outdated. I do not want to wait until Dec. to see if NVIDIA delievers something that ATI allready has NOW. There is a reason The creator of DOOM wanted to use the 9700 to showcase DOOM III. He wanted the best possible CARD NOW. Not smoke and mirrors in the future, for a nvidia card that is allready having difficulties.
*slobber**drool*mmmmm....
You benchmark that thing til it drops ok!!?? I wanna know every possible thing about that card. although I'll probably never get it, I can always dream.

Yeah I am building my first computer. I am really excited. so far I have:
Antec 880plus 430w Case
Conspiracy Blue Keyboard and USB Mouse (Alienware)
Gigabyte GA-8IHXP 533fsb Motherboard
TDK 40x12x48 CD-RW Burner
Sony 1.44 Floppy Drive
Radeon 9700 Pro Video Card
Western Digital WD1200JB 120 GB Hard Drive.
Sound Blaster Audigy Plat. Sound Card
2.53 Pentium 4 Intel Northwood
512MB 1066 Rdram (Kingston)
Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Speakers
Sony G500 21 Inch Monitor
Yep, just like Chuck said!
Since I'm about to buy it too, I'd like to know if the Catalyst drivers and the hardware stand up to expectations.
So, I call upon everyone who now own a R9700Pro to brief us on its functionality and Please, be a little more specific than "it's super", "it's awesome" or "it kicks ass".
Thanks in advance.
BTW, that's the heck of a PC you're building there!

Wow sounds like you've got plenty of money, why not get a PlexWriter?
<i>Past mistakes may make you look stupid, but avoiding future ones will make you look smart!</i>
Or better yet, a Yamaha CRW3200 or CRW-F1.

I too order my 9700 from ATI. When did you order yours and what State? For some resone i cant track my in ups. Did they give you the order # or the tracking #?
I should be getting mine today or tommrow but i dont know casue i cant track it.
And get them benchmarks up. Tell us all about it.Yes and please more then wow its cool.
I ordered mine directly from ATI. It takes 24-36 hours to actually be able to track the UPS shipment. You use the order number as a tracking number. I am in Orlando Florida.
Yah thats what ATI told me. But that was on the 20th I was thinking i should be able to track it by now. Oh well as long as it gets here by tommrow.
PS. Has your come in yet?
I´m still a bit unsure about ordering from the states. First of all ATIs price is kinda high and second, I don´t want to see 100$ taxes on the final bill. Anyone from europe here?
Experiences with taxes when ordering from a foreign country?

If all else fails, Go further
Justgotwicked Did your card make in today? If so shell out the info on it. I want to know everything. Need some info to hold me over till i het mine. :-)
HaHaHa...Yeah, my card came in today. I tracked the shimpment and it arrived this morning. Last night it got held up in customs. Customs released it last night and it arrived this morning. I opened up the box, and BOOM I see the beautiful sight of the 9700 pro, in that bright red package. I am waiting for my pentium 4 chip and my rdram to arrive, and I will be able to build my supercomputer. I am interested to see the overclocking ability of the card. I am going to overclock the machine as far as I can get it. I will give you a heads up when I get everything installed.
Just don´t fry it. That would be a mortal shame.
