Still trying to record sound, using the external RCA jacks on the front of
the computer. To record sound, is it true that you have to be able to hear
it on the computer? You can record it if you can hear it, because it is
already in the computer?

Here is what it says. (audio left and r, in.)

(For models equipped with Giga Pocket features)
S-video In jack
Connection for an S-video cable (optional).
Video In jack
Connection for a video cable (supplied).
Audio L In jack/Audio R In jack
Connection for an audio cable (supplied).

But I can't find any software to access it.

It sort of says I have to "check in" songs from the USB port, with no
reference to the 2 RCA jacks. Weird.
It also does not say just how to use the USB port, if I had a fitting, which
I don't. Also, it is just talking about copying the songs in, from
wherever else they might be, but not as a stream.

"To check in specific songs from a device or media, select the song you wish
to check in. Click Check-In in the middle of the window. Checking in of the
songs you selected begins.

"When the songs are checked-in, disconnect a device or media from the
computer. SonicStageTM allows you to check in and check out songs
automatically by any of the following methods:
"a.. Connecting a device or media to the computer's USB connector

" b.. Inserting an MD into the computer's built-in Net MD™ slot

" c.. Inserting an MG Memory Stick® into the computer's built-in Memory
Stick® slot

"Using this feature, you can check in all the songs from a device or media
to
SonicStageTM. You can also automatically check out songs corresponding to
the item you selected (e.g., ‘Recently ‘Played Songs’, ‘Songs not
checked-out frequently’, ‘Favorites Playlist’, or ‘Random Songs’, etc.) in
the Auto Check-In/Check-Out Setting dialog box that is displayed.
To set up SonicStageTM to check in and out automatically, select Use Auto
Check-In/Check-Out of the Check In/Out options in the Options dialog box.
