Hello everyone.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running XP pro. Our business network is a named
domain with approx. 30 other computers connected.

When I attempt to connect to our business network I am receiving the
following error message.

Network Identification Wizard
A domain controller for the domain OURNAME could not be contacted.
Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly
If the name is correct click Details for troubleshooting information.

The domain is correct. The network connection is good. Clicking on the
details button locks up the error message screen. Clicking on the close
button for the window brings up the system message the this is not
responding. Clicking end task does nothing. The system has not totally froze
at this point so I still have the ability to do other things on this
machine.

Any ideas of what to do to get this machine into my domain?

How is the laptop connected to the network physicly, wired LAN, or
Wireless LAN, give us a clue.

Any way, if it’s a wired LAN, and you unplug the laptop from the
network, that is why, if it’s a WLAN and you take it home or out of
range of the access poaint, again that is why. For to access the
domain you must be connected to the network.
