In this link about Nvidia's C51 it says:

"In related news, the motherboard makers indicated Rival ATI Technologies’ R520 is still facing power-leakage and heat-dissipation issues."

WTF??? Come on ATI let's get those babies out.

I personally think the brunt of problems associated with the r520 are over, and it's just a matter of getting the final product produced and ready to be delivered. However, minor problems such as the ones mentioned may be relavent, but it's really unknown. If issues have arisen, hopefully their impact will be minimal, but only time will tell.

How can you personally think about something that no one knows anything about since rumors and gossip dont count.

Based on the facts that the cards are already production ready, which can be found by <A HREF="http:// http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video [...] html&#034; target="_new">clicking here</A>.

Aside from that, ATI has stated that the cards would be ready around mid Q3. While that may not happen, I don't think they would have given that date out knowing major problems were still obscure. In other words, they must have been confident to give out such a date. And currently, we are in the time zone of "mid Q3."

There is no definate statement that says all the problems are over, just merely my assumptions based on the progress being reported.

Yup, already seen it. Not surprising at all; basically what I've expected all along. It's just ashame ATI couldn't have come out and said it, as opposed to the "mid Q3" lie.

Now im really confused. Did that just say that the lower end cards will come before the high end card?

Sort of. The R520 XL comes out early september and the RV515 comes out late september and then the higher high end and mid range cards come out in october. Seems like a solid gameplan to me.

Here's what I tought, posted it in your thread BTW

Quote :

The way I see it, it does confirm the issue of leakage or whatever it was with the R5xx, you release the lowest part, at the same time you start stocking higher end, the yield improve and when you have sufficient cards, you release higher end.

Thats probably the way ATI always do it and thats why we usually cant grab any higher end part for the first months. But now with nVidia hard launch and tem comming late too the party, its probably the best way for them to grab some market back!

Why does the new ATI cards have less pipelines than the 7800gtx. How will ATI compete with this card. I see it has the higher core/memory speeds but doesn't it all boil down to the pipelines providing the speed. Please correct me if I'm wrong I figured for this long of a wait, ATI would produce something to blow NVidia out of the water.

<i>I pretend to know what I'm talking about.</i>

This issue has been debated some, something like more pipeline VS speed check the thread with the search boards on the left.

THey dont talk about the Pipelines of the R520...only the "value one" RV...
And some pipeline "super pipelines" can do more work per clock. Look at the 78XXX they have better perf per pipes than 6800...
