Nice find there. I wish I needed a PCI-e card now. Free shipping and no mail in rebates even.

Even Anandtech is taken notice in his Video card buyers guide. COmparing 6800GT to X800XL, they said: <i>"A bit of competition in this field would be nice. As we mentioned earlier, the bout for PCIe high end cards certainly go to ATI."</i>

I wish I did too! I was just cruisin the Bensbargains.net and found that little gem. Thought I'd post it for anyone that might be looking.

Kinney must be HOT with the most recent video card pricing guide from AT!

Yeah, I was thinking that AT link would be worth PM'n game about just to bust his chops and see what response he would muster up. (all in good humor of course)

When the "only site you trust" gives into the facts instead of supporting your expected/shared lopsided views. Bad day in GAMEville.

OK, we have talked about it, so here's a <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.aspx?i=2398" target="_new">Clicky</A> to the Anand VGA price guide.

One thing I found funny was how they ragged on X800XL AGP for it's price. Shoot, they list for $350, yet <A HREF="http://www.maincomp.com/shop/product.jsp?id=1090&pw=" target="_new">here is a Retail BBA for $309</A>. $40 under list and they just came out, yeah that's worth complaining about. Yet to Anandtech that is too much a premium over PCI-e that they then go and recommend a 128MB 6800GT AGP instead??????? Oh well, I still like the high end PCI-e = ATI quote as a Kinney chop-buster.

He's been mysteriously quiet lately. Maybe the last bout of chop bustin has him licking his wounds somewhere. That or he's been reinstated over on the AT boards and spouting over there <-- more likely.

I find it absolutely amazing the amount of pricing pressure that ATI is brining to bear on nVidia and the 6800GT. First the X800XL in PCIe and now the AGP versions can already be found as cheaply as the lowest priced 6800GTs. Kudos to ATI for turning up the heat. Kudos to nVidia and ATI - their great products and competitivenes are dropping prices for us consumers!

I wonder if he got them worked out or if his woes have driven him from the nVidia camp? It would be interesting to hear the results of his crusade.

Yeah, Newegg and their sister site <A HREF="http://www.chiefvalue.com/app/index.asp?linkid=1&store=7" target="_new">Chiefvalue</A> have some nice 1 day specials, but unfortunately, the price quickly goes back up. I guess Monarch and others follow suite to get on top of pricewatch maybe?

I would imagine that the major players follow what the competitors are doing pretty closely. It's that or they get beat into the ground on pricing. I didn't know that Chiefvalue was a sister site for Newegg. Are they owned by the same people? How does the Chief compare to Newegg on shipping and customer service?

One thing i've noticed lately is that some of the prices on Pricewatch aren't the same as on the merchants website. When I've found this the price on the website has generally been less than what's on Pricewatch. Still, I would have hoped the merchants would maintain accurate info on Pricewatch and the people at Pricewatch would make it easy for the companies to update. Maybe it's just me...

im really bummed as I missed out on this deal.. did anyone get a quote they wont use ? :)

Do you guys think within the next 3 weeks we'll see another deal like this? I'm building a system as soon as Im out of school and don't want to feel like I missed out on a 30 dollar deal

Reply to cpush

$284 is still a damn good deal IMO.

Reply to KCjoker

For the ATI card it is. If you want to take a chance on refurb you can still get it for $275: <A HREF="http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131299R" target="_new">Powercolor X800XL</A>. I'm not the hugest Powercolor fan and would spend the $9 for the ATI card. I never know when these deals are going to hit. I hit <A HREF="http://www.bensbargains.net" target="_new">Benbargains.net</A> or <A HREF="http://www.techbargains.com" target="_new">Techbargains.com </A> for deal surfing.

The two sites have the same invoice, order confirmation, Edison NJ wharehouse location listed when tracking shipments, and same exact packing slip. I haven't RMA'd through Chiefvalue yet, but they are otherwise the same with Chiefvalue sometimes offering sales a couple bucks cheaper. Not sure if Chievalue uses both NJ and CA wharehouses or just Edison, NJ. I would think only makes sense they would share both coasts. Anyway, both sites charge sales tax in CA, NJ, TN, and Puerto Rico, so think they share operating locations.

Mine too. What I was trying to say is that I checked before I made the $284 post. After you posted $249 i rechecked and it had gone down again - there was probably some type of pricing error on their end or they just got some more in stock.
