New contender for Best Graphics Crown

<A HREF="http://www.riddickgame.com/us/" target="_new">Chronicles of Riddick</A> is looking pretty amazing. Normal Mapping everywhere, Vin Diesel looks like Vin Diesel, probably the most scarily realistic character model ever!
No soft shadows, at least I don't think there are, but I can get over that.
The game was amazing on xbox, very very underrated, and should be awesome on PC too. Check out this <A HREF="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/chroniclesofriddick/review.html?q=1&tag=gs_hp_flashtop_story" target="_new">review from Gamespot</A> (usually they low ball the scores, which means this should be a good game) and watch the <A HREF="http://vugames.com/video_player.do?bgurl=http://www.riddickgame.com/us/img/trailers_bg.jpg&topbar=0&mediaId=11570" target="_new">tech video</A> on the main page
Is this using the Doom3 engine?

I believe it using it's own proprietary engine. Very impressive in my opinion, the visuals remind me of Doom 3.
It's a shame the game will probably suck, just like the film

What makes you say that??
The XBox game was <A HREF="http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/919755.asp?q=riddick" target="_new">awesome!!!</A> Way better than the movies.
There's no reason the PC version won't be just as good, if not better.
I don't think (judging from the screenshots) that this game is anything special graphically--kind of a combination of D3 and UT2004 (probably more on the UT2004 if you get rid of its glitz). Although Vin Diesel does actually look like Vin Diesel. HL2 looks way better, IMO.

its probably doom 3 or HL2 engine, or maybe Farcry engine, they can't just port X-Box game engines to PC...maybe that's why Halo sucked

Nope, it's proprietary, Starbreeze (Developer) created the engine themselves.
The game has been released, as soon as my exams are finished, I'm gonna pick up the game and try it out. So far, I've only heard awesome things about the PC version.

If being a combo of D3 and UT graphically isn't special, I don't know what is???

UT isn't terribly special at all while D3 is good in darkness, yet in well lit areas it seems a bit flat and bland (UT is pretty good for glitzy stuff--but there isn't too much of that here). Soft shadows would probably help correct some of this, but in very bright areas, you're SOL for quality. FarCry (I just got it finally!--no more playing one demo level over and over!) and HL2 are MUCH better in the daylight it seems. As for the game itself, I've heard it's pretty good. Seeing as I liked the movies (and this is a prequel, IIRC), I'm probably gonna buy it anyway. I just hope I can run this game at high res with maybe some AA or AF w/ my 9800XT.

graphics look OK. I mean the video might not be of high wuality to show off graphics. But doesnt look like D3 engine. Besides VU games ?

you guys should look at this one
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
quoting from some useless fu*ck
"HL2 vs. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
What will be the differences between the two?
1.) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will have enemy AI that surpasses anything Valve could dream about putting in HL2. In HL2, the faces looked and responded well, but the characters were totally useless & completely scripted in combat & only got in your way (unless you suck). S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will revolutionize the way NPC's interact with the environment, all having their own independent life-cycles & migrate from level to level independent of the characters actions.
2.) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will be completely open-ended. HL2 limited the player to enclosed areas and created the illusion of a larger environment.
3.) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will have a more interactable environment. HL2's environment was too obvious. Exploding barrels were placed where you needed them, round saw blades were placed where you needed them, breakable structres were made scarse in the retail, obnoxious boards were nailed to doors that required breaking creating the illusion of an interactive environment, etc etc etc.
4.) HL2 was rushed into the market with numerous glitches while S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 's game world and mechanisms will be completely tested before it reaches the shelves of Best Buy.
5.) HL2 has content removed during the testing phase. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will have content added over the next 4 months of testing.
6.) HL2 is an average game with some fresh new content & excellent physics. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will be the next best thing since sliced bread.
Basically, all HL2 is is a demo for new technology."

and this has what to do with Riddick?
well this has nothing to do with riddick. i played that game on the x-box and it was actually pretty sweet, it would be more popular if it got more hype. but i have been following this game for a while....
F.E.A.R i donno about open-endedness or anything like that but it looks intense. its got some elements of the ring/grudge in it. check it out here, its looks fun.
