Half-Life 2 Steam Offers Ready Thursday

Tomorrow at 11 am PST, the Half-Life 2 Steam offers will be ready for purchase. Details and pricing for these offers are pasted below. Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release.

ATI/Half-Life 2 bundle owners may redeem their product key for the Bronze offer or apply their key toward the purchase of either the Silver or Gold offers, receiving a credit equal to the price of the Bronze offer.

Also tomorrow, the Counter-Strike: Source beta will close. Valve would like to thank the thousands of gamers who participated in the beta and helped make it a success.

I won't believe it until it actually hits the shelves, and what do I care I'm broke anyway. Those fuggers were supposed to release it 13 months ago so I don't even really care anymore.

yea kinda depressing how long can one play cs for holy crap its been out forever and now ever since 1.6 when steam took it over its just going down the tubes there gay patches and "fix's" grrrrrr. maybe cuz im just an awper and i hate what theve done to it... which how neone can take 2 headshots from an m4 but only needs to take one from the usp i dont understand sigh

We reported yesterday about the latest information on the ways you will be able to purchase Half-Life 2 upon its release.

Well now, we can also confirm thanks to HLFallout's forum member, pinnappe, that holders of the ATi voucher that was originally only to grant people access to Half-Life 2, will now be granting holders full access to Counter-Strike: Source with the Bronze Steam package. Here's the original response from Valve:
Hello,

The ATI coupon vouchers will be transfered automatically to the Bronze Package. We will be offering upgrades to silver and gold for additional cost, but the details have not been fully worked out yet.

It also becomes clear that voucher holders will be able to upgrade their access to the Gold and Silver packages if so desired.

i have no idea when the damn thing is gonna come out. they are reviewing it before people even see the game, thats retarded.

Hell, its not even got an ESRB rating. So i guess vivendi are being sluggish in testing HL2. Once an ESRB rating is out, one can expect the game in gold process.

Three reviews down, a great deal more to go. Three magazines from three different countries have now started to send their Half-Life 2 reviews into the public domain. With PC Gamer (UK), PC Format (Slovenia)* and PC Gameplay (Benelux) all giving it reviews 90%, it's looking like this will be a common trend. Here are the scores so far:
PC Gamer (UK): 96%
PC Format (Slovenia): 96%
PC Gameplay (Benelux): 90%

Average score: 94%
Many more reviews are expected this coming week, and we'll keep you updated on the scores as they come in.

In a response to this morning's speculation that Vivendi is now setting release dates for late November with retailers, PC Zone/Computer And Video Games are reporting information after speaking with a Vivendi rep:
"Last week we received a Half-Life 2 release candidate from Valve, and in its current state Half-Life 2 is brilliant and looks astonishing," a Vivendi spokesperson went on to talk about the current status of the game, saying:

"Vivendi Universal Games is in the midst of determining whether Half-Life 2 meets the gameplay standard of the company and more importantly the devoted Half-Life fanbase."

The news story goes on to say that Vivendi are hopeful of announcing a release date to the public very soon. They also state that their own retail sources reckon a late November release date as being "highly feasable".

I think Vivendi should just trust Valve and stop delaying. They should know more than anyone else, this game is big business for them. Arguably will give major income. So it does make me confused when I see them having so many problems with Valve, when clearly what's left is maybe bug testing, whereas overall this game is likely going to kick ass and fans are salivating. Releasing it soon is only going to help them financially speaking.

I doubt I'm wrong on this one too.

I just knew it would get a spectacular reception from the reviewers. It will take the wind out of another particular developer's sails. id Software makes some spectacular tech. but Valve will teach them a thing or two about gameplay!!!

so by realistic u mean 1-2 shot kills? i hate when you can take more than a few shotgun shells at point blank range and manage to kill the other guy....in multiplayer games

depends upon where u shoot. A pistol head shot = a kill by rifle by shooting legs/body. Sniper = kill by shot anywhere.

I'm tired and I have to go to bed, but I just bought the silver package and played CS: S. This says all-
If you shoot the computers in the office level, the side comes off and you can individually shoot out the video card (which I is the spitting image of a 9800 pro), the sound card (Audigy 2), motherboard, heatsink, various drives, and RAM. The mouse I recognize as the Microsoft optical one (red on the side, grey on top), and the keyboard I have seen, but don't know what it is. I think it is a logitech.

Just kinda shows how much detail is in the game. I am stunned.

I PLAY ON MOST THAT HAVE PING <= 100MS. CAN GO AS LOW AS 25MS

I didn't expect THAT much. Although weak in polygons, the system itself truly is down to modern times. Well, for this year anyways hehe. (think of them updating the maps' computers each year! :wink: )

Actually I believe that is the XT.

so when they sell hl2 at the stores its going to come with cs s. im just wondering if i should buy it now or what cuz since hl2 is only single player i didnt think i would buy it i was thinking other means....... but if cs s is the next cs basically 1.7 and everyone is going to switch to it then i am going to buy it asap

no it doesnt. But i created my own CSS server, so that i can look at the enviroment just by myself and take pics like a tourist.
