Hi,

I'm running Win XP home, AMD 2700, 1gig ram, MSI GF4 Ti4200 128mb vid card.

I've installed Direct X9. Every so often when I boot the machine DX9 doesn't install. I check using dxdiag and I see the AGP texture accelerator box "disabled". I've tried reinstalling DX9 and the problem still occurs. I have been resolving the issue by just rebooting the machine, sometimes it takes more than reboot for DX9 to properly install.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd install <A HREF="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx" target="_new">DirectX 9.0a</A> to replace version 9.0, reinstall or replace the video card drivers with the latest <A HREF="http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_44.03" target="_new">WHQL version</A>, and then manually enable the AGP texturing ... in that sequence.

With a gigabyte of RAM, I'd also set the APG aperture in the BIOS to 256, and make sure that AGP 4x was enabled.

If the texturing doesn't stay enabled, you might consider a BIOS flash for the mainboard.
