I think I am getting closer and closer to retiring my HandEra 330, and am
looking for replacement. Inclining towards the T-E2, and would love to hear your
thoughts and expriences of working with it - battery life, convenience,
features, etc.

I don't think I will be using it for email or any internet-related stuff. Mainly
for all the basics (contact, calendar, organizer), documents, reading, some
databases, Natara Bonzai and Natara DayNotez.

Thanks,
Simon

The original T|E had horrible battery life, so hopefully they have addressed
that.

I bought a TE2 a few days ago for the same reasons as you basically and
reading alot on it aswell. I can say its perfect for me, I even listen
to mp3s on it with headphoens the sound ql is excellent. It doesnt tire
my eyes no matter how many hours I read on it. and the battery life is
very long,, well for my standards anyway and i listen to music on it.

I've had a T|E since they were new and haven't had ANY battery life
issues. Your mileage apparently varies.

Including settings (got that IR beam receive turned off?) and
applications running. Even the basic "brightness" trick has extended my
battery life.

And the portable "charge from battery" thingie I got on ebay increases
my confidence.

Not sure what you mean by "brightness trick", but if you use a dimmer such as
the free SilkDimmer.prc (Google to find) you can substantially increase the TE's
battery life. I normally run my TE at 10% (the low brightness stop is 25%) and
it is still quite readable in any light. In a dark room I use 5% and it actually
makes it more readable because it's not so bright on your eyes.

I'm thrilled with mine. I use mine for "the basics" and
document-reading as well. Form-factor and weight is great, and
battery-life has been excellent so far.

My quick reference was to the standard brightness setting (middle), and
sliding the bar to the dim side. It's SOP that veteran users taught me.
