that because its not possible or that I dont know how, i have tried avi
mpeg wmv. when I try to add video files with palm desktop software I
get an error message and the program shuts off, when i manage to add

I have plastered the screen protector on :P is that enough to protect
against tear and wear with the stylus?

HI Siyamak,

To slow down wear and tear on the screen, use a screen protector.

As to videos, I watch WMV files on my LifeDrive with no problem.
Note that the file must be loaded on and SD card (or in my case the
hard disk).

The way Palms work, is you can only add PDBs and PRCs to main RAM.
Everything else must go on an external storage device.

As in other types of protection, the screen protector diminishes the pleasure of
using the instrument a bit... ;) But seriously it depends on how carefully you
use the instrument. I haven't used protection (or a case for that matter) for
years while pocket carrying my Palm(s) and have never had a scratch problem.
But of course YMMV...

What do you mean by "enough"? It will definitely provide some protection
but if you have a very heavy touch, you're on your own.

Re: your original post about playing video, I'd suggest reading the
manual (electronic or otherwise) that came with your Palm and with the
video playback software.

Over time the screen pritector will eventually wear down but it will
protect the original screen. I have a 3 year old PDA still in heavy
use. Last time I changed the protector, there was no scratch or any
damage to the LCD display. A 10 pack should be more than enough to
outlast your PDA's useable life.

thnx for the help guys,

about the video viewing, i have read all the official guides i could
find, but I still can view any videos, not wmv avi or mpg. when i
manage to add the video with palm desktop or palminstaller without the
program freezing up, the palm wont play them saying that it is the
wrong format even though it can show the pictuee of the video as a
thumb.

I guess its not converting them as the guide said it should
atuomatically. how can i convert them to the viewble format? or is
there something else i am missing?

www.videohelp.com might have the correct guide for your palm plus
links to the required softwares.

The best video viewer is freeware. Google core pocket media player. The best
formats for viewing video on a palm is in xvid or divx. To convert other
video formats you need a program called Virtualdub (it is a tutorial in
itself to explain how it works). To convert DVDs to xvid format use the
excellent PocketDVDstudio. Hope that helps.

It was a time of great turmoil. The strong preyed on the weak, dogs
and cats lived together. One voice cried out in the wilderness:

Just use a screen protector.

Search for The Core Pocket Multimedia Player. It should be able to
play just about every kind of video file.
