When I capture DV with Adobe Premiere 6.5 and my Sony TRV-22, I must keep the capture window up in order to keep the capture going. Actually I have to keep the window up to maintain any control over the camera such as fast forward or play, etc. As soon as a switch applications, the camera conrol/capture stops.

I don't think this happened with my old Canon DV camera. I have tried multiple camera models in the options, from TRV-10 to VX2000 to no avail. I use Windows XP and 1394.

Any ideas for a chronic multitasker?

When the movie capture window is open, it has primary focus within Premiere and any other operations or programs should not be running on a single processor PC. To prevent frame drop, I guess it's a Premiere's feature to stop the capture if you switch applications.

So you can't switch windows with any camera in Premiere? Maybe I just didn't notice before with the Canon.

At least that's the case for my Sony DV cam. I haven't tried any of the Canon's, so I can't comment on whether some camcorders won't have this problem.

Same with my D8 Sony Camcorder in Premiere under Win 2000. I don't think of it as a bug or anything, as at the point of capture, getting no missed frames is the most important thing to me so i wouldnt risk it by doing other things anyway.

I suppose I will just have to suck it up then. Though I like multitasking, 5 windows open right now :)
