Right...
I am running Windows XP Pro and when i run certain apps and games, my system just resets itself unexpectedly. it seems fairly random, and when i get back to the desktop it gives be a 'the system has recovered from a serious error' box. if i check the system temperature immediately it shows usually about 68 to 69 degrees and then gradually cools from there over time. i have no idea apart from a possible overheat, but it only happens in certain circumstances...
One example of a time when it is certain to happen after a while is when playing the game Fallout 2. its an old game but seems to prompt the reset everytime after about half an hour. other Processor heavy games usually have not trouble. im at a loss as to what is causing it!
here are my system specs:
Athlon Xp 1700+
Gigabyte GA-7VTXH+ mother board
512 mb ddr 2100
40Gb hard drive
GeForce 3 Ti200 128mb Graphics card

So, any ideas? i would really appreciate any light on this subject!

my only guess is an improperly mounted processor heatsink, high 60's is way to much for the cpu temps.

Are you saying you’re at 68-69 degrees Celsius, if so you should get that heat down quickly, say under 50 C would be much better. I’m surprise your other games don’t crash as well, and you should start monitor your temp often. If over clocking turn it down, as suggested check the heat sink, you should have at least one to two fans in the case, I’d say two. One fan in the front, and the other in the back. If you PC is inside a desk take it out. And make sure there is air flow, and get the heat down.
