Is Hp's nw8000 good for gaming? Its specs are pretty impressive: 1,7centrino, 512mt, 60Gt 7200rpm hd and ati mobility radeon firegl t2 128Mt.But is ati mobility fire gl t2 128Mt suitable solely for 3d engineering?

No, it will play games quite well, certainly well enough - but it is not designed for games, so don't expect it to blow you away. It might perform as well as or better than an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000.

Chris Hook of ATI wrote the following when asked about the differences between the Mobility Radeon 9600 and the Mobility Radeon Fire GL T2:

"Identical, but FGL is workstation certified as well. Games are equally good on both."

In other words, both are based on the M10 GPU. The FireGL T2 offers workstation certified OpenGL drivers in addition to the directX drivers offered with the 9600.

fire glide and radeon use the exact same cores, it is possible on many desktop cards to modify one to the other with a bios flash, the fireglides are much better at 3d modeling, cad and all that professional stuff but the radeons outperform the fireglide in games every time and usually by a significant ammount. I'd check for benchmarks before buying if I was you
