I bought a sony pcg-z1ra for my cousin in college and it was workin fine until he installed office xp (which i think was pirated). Now it boots but when it tries to load windows it just goes in a loop. Reformatted the hardrive and then tried to do a fresh install but wouldn't read the disk. I'm pretty sure this is a software issue, but if anyone has had any trouble or heard of any problems with this laptop let me know. Any help greatly appreciated!!

If you formated the drive, then it is almost certainly not a software issue. Which drive won't read? the CD or the HDD? It is probably an HDD issue in which case take it back for repairs.

yeah, that's what i'm thinking too. Gonna take it in to see what's wrong.
