I am interested to play around with my unused palm zire 21, right now
what I have in my mind was to write an OS that can be compatible for
zire 21 and above, I know it is a huge project to do but in the same
time I just want to play around with Palm, its processor and maybe to
apply my knowledge that I don't seem to use other than in univs.

Could anyone point to me links, tutorials, hints, dev-kit, and all
related materials ? I'm a newcomer in the mobile world. Thank you.

Very difficult task. I know a company that is trying to make something
similar for two years know without a success! Can you guess their name? :-)

There isn't any development kit intended to support writing new operating
systems for Palm devices. Your best bet would be to use the gnu compiler
which can targed the ARM architecture.

Beyond that google "linux ARM" and "linux ARM palm" and you'll get a lot of
links to projects where this has already been done using Linux--you should
be able to study their code and procedures, which would give you a starting
point for your own development.

It would probably be a good idea to obtain the programmer's manual for the
processor--it's a Texas Instruments so start there--I don't know if the
manual is downloadable or not--TI used to charge for most of their chip
documentation but it's been a long time.
