What can be done with a Tungsten E with a smashed screen? It got stepped
on and now the screen is cracked. It works OK - that can be seen on the
parts of the screen that are still legible - but it's not usable. I hate
to throw away all those resources. PalmOne wants $125 to fix it, which
it's barely worth. Any thoughts on how to make use of the unit?

You can use it for something which makes little (or no) use of the display
(MP3 players comes to mind, most/all of them make use of the 4-way
navigation keys) and give it to a friend. It would be much appreciated by
most.

Tape an M-80 to it, put it in a steel bucket and light the fuse. Then send
(what's left of) it to PalmOne with the $125 check and the RMA for the
cracked screen. You should get your money's worth then... ;)

You could probably get something for it on eBay. The battery is still good
along with other salvageable parts (case, main board, etc). For example, I
have a TE with a bad battery that some day I might replace.

I sold an old laptop on eBay that had various problems. I was surprised
that someone paid $200 for it. But when you think how much they would have
had to pay for the parts that were still good (e.g. the battery), I guess
that might be a bargain. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Just a thought.
