Hi,
I am trying to play a buddy a DIRECT CONNECT game in
Command and Conquer General and I received a CONNECTION
TIMED OUT. My friend is using a direct connetion to his
DLS modem, while I am using a wired connection through my
MN-500. I have disabled the firewall so that all ports
are open and we still cannot connect. I can PING his WAN
IP address and he can PING mine, but my friend cannot
PING the address of my PC that was assigned by the
Microsoft router. Any suggestions??

Turn the firewall back on, immediately. You need to forward the proper port
to the machine on which the game resides. Take a look at this Knowledge

Look on web sites for the game or read the manual, Mike. The information
usually comes with the game itself.

Chris, I did so and have ran the DXDIAG test, It does
not list any games which is strange since I have Command
and Conquer, Rise of Nations and about 7 others. It says
test runs normal, so how do I know which ports to enable
for inbound and outbound???

You need to look in the documentation which comes with the games for each
one specifically. They do vary, as you may have noted from the Knowledge
Base article. This web site (or further search in Google) may help you:
