Not other than the Tungsten C, other solutions seem to depend on
putting a WiFi SD card in the SDIO slot of selected PDAs.

You can get a wifi card for the T72, and the T3, and now just announced the
card also works for the T5.
The wifi card option has been out for a considerable amount of time.
Also, Sandsk sells a wifi card for the T71.
And, you can get a Tungsten C that comes with wifi.
The above count is thus 5 models that you can get wifi for.
There are also some manufactures that make a "sled" that you put the palm
into, and that also have wifi.
So...as far as I can tell, you got a lot of options here....

www.enfora.com has a Wi-Fi "portfolio" for the Tungsten E and another one
for (I believe) all Palms with the universal connector.

Yes, I mean besides the Tungsten C.
I know the options of the card in the slot, but I need the slot for extra
storage (Mp3).
You have a good choice among the Pocket-PCs, but I want a Palm.

Hi Haakon,
Well, there's the Tungsten C, the Sony Clie PEG-TH55, the Sony Clie
UX-50, the Sony Clie VZ-90, some of the other Sony Clie series can take
both a WiFi CF card and the memory stick still available, and the
TapWave devices can take both a SD WiFi and have a second SD slot open.
So between the Tungsten C and the various Clie devices there are
several Palm devices with integrated WiFi available on the market.

Don't know about Håkon, but for me this would be e.g. a screen as big as
possible instead of the thumbboard.

Except that Sony stopped making Clie devices, and support is already
getting thin for those who already bought one.
Better think twice before buying one (although I recently got a second
hand TH55 for my wife) as there'll be no more bug fix or improvements
for those PDAs!
But for those who want WiFi with a memory card in the slot, the TH55
is probably one of the best choices if you can find one.

Sony stopped selling them in North America. Sony is still making and
selling them elsewhere.

Sony stopped making and selling them everywhere in the world except in
Japan. If you can understand Japanese, then go ahead, buy a Japanese
unit...
I did this twice in the past (S500C and N700C), it can be done, but
there is a price to pay: the menus, buttons, labels, etc. are in
Japanese of course, and it's impossible to display any accented
character like those used in western Europe (French, German,
Spanish...). Plus you can forget all the third party apps included on
the bundled CD, as those are Japanese versions as well! ;-)

Hi guys,
I realize that Sony is not continuing to make and market new devices
for the North American market, but it was my understanding that they
are continuing to support them. I wasn't aware of any major bugs in
the TH-55 or UX-50 (in fact, in my experience they are pretty good
devices!)
If you are interested in the new devices that they are continuing to
employ in Japan, you can buy a Japanese unit. If you don't read
Japanese, there's some good advice at this page:
http://euroclie.free.fr/Uk/multi.html
And you could always buy from an importer like Dynamism.com, who is
working on localizing the OS of the Clie VZ-90 (for a price, to say the
least).
Actually the localization isn't so bad, although I'm afraid I don't
know of any work-arounds for accented characters, except for kludge
used in some programs:
http://town.ruru.ne.jp/y-saito/palm/wdicfr2.html
http://homepage2.nifty.com/hackerd [...] palmchars/
But the TH-55 should be still available pretty easily in the United
States or via eBay. For most intents and purposes, it's basically a
Tungsten | C with a larger screen instead of a thumbboard. Yes, I
realize there are other differences, although for the most part, they
are in the TH-55's favor!
I agree that the Palm SD WiFi card is a less than perfect solution in
the Tungsten series because it sticks out so much. The CF WiFi cards
used in the NX or NZ series (or the HandEra 330 for that matter!) have
better range than the SD WiFi cards, stick out less, and are less
disruptive. One other, and admittedly less than perfect option, is the
Tapwave Zodiac, which does support an SD WiFi card, although it sticks
out too:
http://www.emuboards.com/invision/ [...] opic=19035
I should also mention that I originally wanted a WiFi-enabled Palm with
a longer screen instead of a thumbpad, but I have been very pleasantly
surprised with the Tungsten | C, which I have used for some time now.
The keyboard turns out to be much more useful than I thought, and
although it can be occasionally frustrating, writing graffiti on the
screen is usually painless, and I very rarely find myself missing the
virtual graffiti area of my Sony NZ-90 or my old HandEra 330.
I would also love to see PalmOne make more devices that integrate WiFi
(and bluetooth---I still find it incredible that the Sony UX-50 is the
only device to have them both, and IrDA to boot!) but unless you have
some very particular requirement in addition to WiFi, the Tungsten | C
and TH-55 seem to be two very nice choices.

Is there a WiFi card for the Tapwave units? I am not aware that any of the

The European version of TH-55 has both WiFi and Bluetooth. It was dropped
from the US version to save a buck or two because few people in the US have
cell phones, and of those that do, only a tiny fraction have Bluetooth (or
even know what it is). I don't know about the Japanese version.
Apart from mobile phones, bluetooth doesn't seem to have many uses that
can't be covered by the much faster WiFi. Using a BT keyboard with the
device is one, but the only program for doing so seems to be out of support,
and only a very crippled version is now available.

Since he needed the sd slot for a card with mp3's, I guess he needs
Stereo sound, which the T|C doesn't have. Wasn't that pretty obvious?
It was to me, anyways.

Thanks for the info on the European TH-55 Art!
I don't believe the Japanese version of the TH-55 has bluetooth. At
least it's not mentioned on Sony's website:
http://www.sony.jp/products/Consum [...] /spec.html
I realize that the application for bluetooth right now might seem
fairly limited. But interacting with mobile phones in various ways is
a big one. Both in being able to use the Palm's contact database to
make calls, syncing contacts, and in using the data capability of a
Bluetooth phone as a WAN-modem for the Palm when it is out of WiFi
range.
And then there are real applications like using a bluetooth keyboard,
syncing or transferring data with other Palms, and syncing with my
desktop or laptop without putting it in a cradle, connecting by cable,
or attaching an IR bug.
There are also a host of neat potential applications, such as using the
Palm as a HID for a laptop, so that the Palm becomes a small graphics
tablet, or just a way to advance slides, wirelessly, while giving a
presentation.
One nice thing about bluetooth is that it is uses very little power,
unlike WiFi, which enables many of these applications.
It looks like more and more mobile phones, even in the US, are being
sold with Bluetooth, and hopefully more Palms and more notebook
computers will follow suit!

Well, they still provide some sort of support, for instance if you
break your device they'll still repair it, but I'd be surprised if
there's any software update in the future, for instance. Also, they've
stopped supporting third party developers, which means that new
programs won't be able to take advantage of the Sony devices
capabilities, or sometime those program won't be able to run on Sony
devices at all! :-(

The TH-55 has at least one annoying bug with the IR. I know three
persons with a TH-55, and everyone of them has to send something via
IR to the other PDA to be able to receive a file via IR. Just waiting
for the TH-55 to receive the IR connection doesn't work, and the other
PDA complains that it cannot find a receiving device. If you beam
anything from the TH-55 while it is waiting to receive a file via IR,
then the connection will establish correctly, all you have to do is
reject the beamed item (address entry, for instance) on the other PDA
when prompted at the end of the transfer... Otherwise, yes, they are
good devices.

This is a limitation of the PalmOS, who can't handle simultaneously
multi-byte characters (like Japanese kanji/kana) and accented
characters. Everytime the OS tries to display an accented character
using the standard fonts, it will in fact use the two bytes starting
with the accented character and display the corresponding
kanji/kana... <sigh>
If you're an English user using only the first half of the ascii table

Yes, I've used a WiFi CF card on a NX70V for about a year or so. It
worked fine, but having to insert & remove the card every now and then
got painful in the end, as did doing the same thing with the Bluetooth
MemoryStick when I had to connect through my mobile phone... Still,
it's a solution to consider since you can probably find NX devices and
WiFi CF cards at an affordable price on the second hand market.
One thing to note, though, is that Sony's implementation of WiFi
protocol seems to be different from PalmOne's approach, which means
that not every WiFi-related program (like sniffing/wardriving
utilities) will necessarily work on the Sony... :-(

The T|C has all the functionality of the T|T3 except for the 320x480
screen.
If you want a 320x480 screen and wi-fi, then I believe the
now-discontinued Sony UX50 has that.
If you want 340x480 and you want wi-fi on a device that isn't
discontinued, you could consider the Tapwave Zodiac. I've
seen reports that it can handle some wi-fi cards with the
appropriate drivers. And although that *would* take up an
SD Card slot, the Zodiac has two slots, so that should be OK.

I think he's looking for rumours and suspicions not answers. The answer is
NO, no one has any information on an upcoming Palm with WiFi built-in. YES
we all suspect that some day Palm will get their act together and build such
an animal but again I repeat, NO, there are no rumours of an upcoming model

I'm exactly doing that for two years now: switching cards before connecting

I hereby state that the next PDA appropriate for my usage habits is having
