I've checked, but apart from being another web mail service, is there is something that make it so special?

I know that they have sorting features, anti spam, archiving, ..., but, what is the main feature that set them apart?

Gmail has lots and lots of storage space (one gig last I knew) and is the new fad. If you don't mind them using you like a marketing resource (which is how they make their money offering their 'free' service) then it's not so bad a deal.

It places some little links (just like the sponsered links when you use google to search) to relevent information in your emails. This is all done automatically without any human intervention.

Worth the 'price' if you ask me.

ok..thanks. I thought it was something more than a web mail, but at the end, it is only web mail with lot of space and add, but for free. Something that was giving you some advantage somewhere.

Yes, but how do they determine relevent links to insert? By stripping your email down and categorizing it by keyword search results. This information then not only gets used to provide relevent links, but also as a new form of marketing survey which Google then uses any way they like.

As I said, if you don't mind giving up any notion of privacy so that Google can harvest marketing data from you then it's worth it. If you do mind then don't sign up. :)

I just think that it is up to each person to decide if it is worth the 'price' to them. Especially when Google has also so far had a few security issues.

Personally it would have been worth it to me... had Hotmail not upped my account size to 250MB.

I've sent you one.

Don't forget to check your SPAM folder, since hotmail often labels e-mails from Gmail as spam.
