hello all,
this post to generate some user feedback about ati's and nvidia's mobile flagships: radeonmobility9600 vs geforceffxgo5600

generaly, i read that the radeon would be faster then the geforce ... anyway, here are my numbers:

i have an gffxgo5600, and overclocked it form default 250core/500mem to 307core/614mem (rockstable), using coolbits registry tweak without any problem (powerstrip gave me artifacts on screen at the slightest overclocking)

If you had the choice of either or (any money and surrounding system didn't matter) what would you choose?

like if they have the same system, it's only the gpu that's different ...

for 3D speed: radeonmobility9600, it's just faster
for mobility: geforcefxgo5600, since it's fast also but at least the gpu's powermanagement is working

(i have to admid i always favored nvidia products ... although without special reason these days, so i hoped the geforcefxgo5600 would be faster, but according to almost all reviews it's not ...)

the notebooks im seeing right now that come with these chips are huuge. like 8 pounds+. i think its the heat issues prob. although they r supposed to give off less heat than the previous models. the best notebook i have seen so far is the eurocom as it has the radeon 9600 128 mb. thinking of buying it even. i was thinking of buying the gericom a month back, but now they dont even have a model with the 9600. thats weird. maybe the card has issues.

yep, that's really strange, 1 month ago gericom had notebooks with radeon9600 and geforce5600 in their web-shop ... but now both are gone !
maybe it's an "availability" problem: maybe they bought an early stock, before the big companies (because they had both graficcards before all the big brands), but now the big brands start selling them too, and the smaller companies cannot get stock anymore ?
can be ?

I'll be looking forward to the Dells with 9600 chips

Hey all:

I was surfing the net, and found that the Dell Inspiron 8600 is going to ship with the Geforce 5650 FX. No Radeon 9600 option though, just the 9000. It has all the specs of the 8500, except with centrino (pentium m) technology, a little more weight, and the video card options.

Its been in Dell's UK and France stores for a while now... It'll be in US soon I'm guessing.

i see that the dell 8600 has a 128MB DDR NVIDIA® GeForceFX™ Go5650 card. what is that? (the 50).

with what i found out i think it's a more "mobile" go5600 so that it can be used in notebooks other then "desktop replacements", it should be less power hungry and generate less heat ... but i don't know about performance

maybe that is why there were not so many go5600 to be found ? and this is like a go5600 second edition ?
