I'm trying to build a diskless PC to use in my car as a media player. I've got an ITX mobo (this thing is tiny!) with everything built into it, a tiny case with a 12volt DC/DC power supply, and built in TV out (perfect to go to one of those consumer level in-car LCD panels)
Now I just need a neat way to boot it.
I've seen PocketPC's boot directly to tiny linux distros on CF cards. This is what I want. Drop in a 32MB CF card with a custom, highly cut down linux kernel, that would boot directly into a easy to use cd/mp3/ogg/whatever player.
Very doable... except how do you get the PC to boot from the damn card?
