Hi,

I have a Treo 650 and Sprint PCS service. I set up the PCS Business
Connection for email and I have a problem. When I have the service
connected, I cannot get email on my home computer. It keeps prompting me for
the correct email account password. I enter the password and it doesn't
work. The emails go to my Treo, but they stay on the email server and don't
come through to my Outlook 2003 inbox. If I disconnect from the PCS Business
Connection my home email works fine and I'm not prompted anymore for the
password.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem? It's my understanding that
my Treo is supposed to be taking email info from my Inbox and not my server.
It is also my understanding that they should both be able to work at the
same time. Am I wrong or is there a fix?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Hi Gary,

I'm using AT&T, but I am pretty sure the principles apply. You are
actually downloading you e-mail from your ISP's server. It is just
set to leave the e-mail on the server.

As to asking for a server. Your ISP that you are using for your
e-mail probably only allows for one connection to the server at a
time. So if you have the Treo connected, it can not authenticate the
second login. I have noticed this phenomenon with both my AT&T
service for my Tungsten|T3 and my T-Mobile Service for my laptop.

Ciao . . . C.Joseph

Thanks. I'll give them a call and ask.

I'm not too happy if this is true. The guy @ Sprint told me differently.
The thing that upsets me is that I get a ton of spam (about 200 per day) and
I don't want them all on my Treo. I was hoping he was correct because I
have a spam blocker that pulls them out of my Inbox. He said I would only
see what stays in my Inbox.

Hi Gary,

It depends on where the 'spam blocker' is located. If it is through
your ISP, then it is probably on their server, and you should not
get the spam on your Treo. On the other hand . . . if the spam
blocker is on your PC, then the spam will end up on your Treo.

To cut down on spam, I created an e-mail account that is just for my
Tungsten|T3 when I am on the road. My two assistants have the
address and that is it. If something comes to any of my business
boxes that they think needs my personal attention, they forward it
to my Tungsten|T3 address.

Just out of curiosity, how do you like e-mail & Internet on your
Treo? When I bought the Tungsten|T3, I could have bought a Treo, but
the screen was hard to read even with my glasses on. The trade off
is speed. You are probably run 2 - 3 faster than me.

Hi Joseph,

My spam filter is on my pc. I'm considering changing my mail server to a
company that has filtering at the server.

I cannot comment on using my Treo for email or internet yet because I've
done so little with it. It's more important for it to arrive at my home pc
now than on my Treo. This is something I'll work out over the next week or
so. I can access my home pc from any of my work locations - I've done it
for years and it's very easy for me. At this point I'm just thrilled to
have a current model Palm and to have my phone integrated with it.

Thanks again for your help!
Gary
