Well, I bought a Samsung 2343, being a nice 23" 2048x1152 monitor. Also being the only thing that fit my budget.
I upgraded form a 17" 1280x1024, but it just wasn't enough for me.

But now I'm thinking I just want to give my brother the 23" and buy a 2560x1600 monitor. Also a IPS panel instead of a TN panel, as I want less light bleeding resulting from cheap panels, better vertical viewing angle (horizontal angle doesn't matter to me), and better colour.

I see that a lot of 30" 2560x1600 TN panels are $900-1,500. However, equal IPS panels are $2,000+.
I can't really afford $2,000.

Even worse, the 27" 2560x1440 IPS with a i5 (or i7 for $200 more)/4GB(though I'd install 8GB)/4850m cost less than a 2560x1600 IPS panels... absolutely pathetic. Though apparently the 27" model can be used as a external monitor (has a video input, though the 21.5" version doesn't).

I'm actually considering a iMac here people, someone help me!
The 27" iMac is too damned ugly for me to use... also only having a mobility 4850 512MB is demoralizing...

So, any suggestions?
Doesn't have to be 30", just 2560x1600 resolution IPS with a decent price... I do have a Samsung preference, but I can ignore it.
