I recently bought a Dell SP2309w 23" monitor, i'm really happy with it except i've noticed a lot of banding and/or artifacts in HD content. I'm connected via HDMI and my graphic card drivers are fully up to date (nVidia 9800GTX)
I've been reading up and found out non TN panels are a lot better, obviously more expensive but better.
Can anyone reccomend some good non TN panels that don't break the £300 price range? Not sure if there are any? Dell brand would be even better, I find them really sleek and well designed.
cjl, unfortunately the Dell 2209WA is 1680 x 1050 resolution and is lower than the Dell SP2309w's 2048x1152. Because 1680 x 1050 is smaller than 1080p resolution, watching HD video will decrease video quality a little bit.
smooth-criminal, if you can deal with the lower resolution, then the Dell 2209wa is the monitor for you. If you want 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200, then you really need to increase your budget.
To the best of my knowledge, all current 1920 x 1080 monitors use TN panels. There are 1080p monitors coming out using Samsung's c-PVA panels, but I don't know when they are coming out, nor do I know the price point.
