I recently learned in these newsgroups that I can't just copy Adobe PDF's to
my SD card, I have to instead install them to the card using Hotsync
(because the files must be converted.) As if on cue, my unit (Treo 600) and
desktop software now refuses to write to the card. The log is below
(redacted in spots for security reasons.) Yes, I have run the PDF prog on
my Palm and got nothing. Can anyone help my sad, sorry beginner's ass?

Hotsync does not convert anything. You must convert it your own self.
Hotsyncing to the card takes forever, very slow, get a card reader. I
got mine for ~$8usd.

Adobe has a free Palm PDF converter on their site;
<http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforpalm.html>
Read the instructions, the Palm is a completely different beast then a
PPC. Until you get the 'Zen of Palm', read the instructions for new
programs as some of them can only find their files in certain
directories of the card, etc.

I see that you've got Acrobat Reader installed on the palm, but you
still have to open the desktop part of Acrobat Reader for PalmOS and
drop the pdf into that screen, it'll convert it. I can't remember if it
puts it in your install directory (ie c:\palm\<username>\install) or
not, if it does, just use a memory card reader to stick it on the card
since the hotsync takes FOREVER, well, if it's a large pdf.

PNY SD only from Best Buy brick and morter. Four years ago from their
discontinued hardware bin. It still works great everyday, never been a
problem.

Thanks Jim... I realized afterwards that is what it may have been.. I was
thinking originally in terms of software for the Palm, like Softick.. thanks
again!
