I'm wondering if this monitor is any good. Has anyone purchased it? It's the cheapest 26" display I could find. I can't find _any_ reviews on it, though.

I'm wondering whether to get this or an AOC 416V (a budget 24" ). The latter seems to have better contrast ratio (3000 vs 800!, I'm assuming the 3000 is not dynamic).

The AOC 416V's 3000 contrast ratio IS dynamic, sorry.

I'd go for the ViewSonic.
I luv my ViewSonic... granted it's an old 17" with a 500:1 static contrast ratio...

Thanks. However now I've got an eye for the Samsung T240 24". Less real estate (but will still seem huge compared to my previous monitor--just how much size do I need?), and from what I've read on it it has a really gorgeous appearance for the price and for a TN monitor.

I've read that there are monitors besides TN and PVA that have better viewing angles AND response time as good as TN. I take it there are none of these that won't break the bank?

Exactly.

TN panels are great purely on price alone. That is completely the deciding factor to me.
I'm looking for pixel count, not quality... so, yeah. TN panels it is.
