I am trying to use the DMI tool from Toshiba to reset the DMI string in my M35-S359 to reinstall WInXP. It keeps complaining about the wrong Platform ID and basically does nothing. It almost sounds like a Catch 22. Trying to access the DMI but can't becaause it doesn't have the right information.
Is there a generic DMI tool? I have the strings I need to write

Wait, why exactly are you trying to manually rewrite DMI strings? Why not just let the installer take care of it?
