I am thinking of buying a laptop. The details are given below in FAQ.

1_What is your budget?
45 to 50,000 Rupees (around 1000$)

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15 inch.

3_What screen resolution do you want?
No preference in this

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
portable

5_How much battery life do you need?
4-5 hours


6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
I want to play games like NFS Underground, Counter Strike at high resolution.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing,watching movies, Etc.)
Watching moves, Net Surfing and Software programming.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
500GB

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
tough question. But atleast for another 5 years.


11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Prefer Dell and Toshiba. A big no to HP.

13_What country do you live in?

Windows 7 OS needed. Also it will be great if the system doesnt come cluttered with unnecessary software.
I need the Windows 7 on a DVD so that i can reinstall it if something goes wrong. Most laptops give preinstalled OS on system. So for partition u have to use third party software and it might mess up the system. The Laptop provider should ask me how many partition i want and then preinstall the OS or give me the OS cd which i will do manually.
Also to be precise i need Intel Core2Duo processor. Dunno the difference betn T and P series. 4GB ddr2 ram. 512MB dedicated graphic card. Decent speakers. Wireless card, bluetooth.

I dont prefer HP. We have 6 laptops in our office of HP and all have gone worse in less than 2 years.

I just found yesterday that Dell studio 15 now comes with intel core 17 processor. But its still not available in india on their site. SO i guess it would be appropriate to wait for some more time for the i7.
