my son cant get on x box live he had 3 months brought for his for his birthday and had it connected through his laptop with a pay as u go network 3 dongle, he was able to play on x box live 4 the first 3 weeks then all of a sudden it just will not connect to the internet at all it just keeps saying failed, any suggestions on what may be happening? and how we could fix this

Try hooking the xbox directly to your cable modem. If that works, you've got some sort of network failure - slowly add pieces of your network back in until you find a config that doesn't work. Then you'll find your malfunctioning part.
