I can't play DVDs on my Toshiba laptop (which runs Vista). When I try I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings." It's not specific to Windows Media Player. I get the same basic message when I use other programs.
I'd be very grateful for any help with the matter.

The problem is already solved! I can't find the forum that suggested it (maybe this one!) but downloading the program "VideoLAN - VLC media player" from http://www.videolan.org/ has provided me with FREE software that seems to play DVDs no problem. I hope someone else might benefit from this posting. Good luck to all, especially in those battles where, as someone else put it, engineers have tried so hard to make it difficult for people to watch licensed DVDs that they acquired through legitimate channels. I don't illegally download, Microsoft and Apple, so get off my case!
