Hi again, My son wants to upgrade his XPS 410 video card. He plays games like COD 4 modern warfare. Could someone recomend a good card.
Perferably from newegg and around $100 .
His specs;
XPS 410 desktop
C2D e6600 2.4
Has a ati card now but not for sure what kind,its to weak all setting on low
XP
screen resulution :not for sure but pretty sure he will use what ever
I'm going to recommend the ATI HD4670. It's a decent video card and is single slot, and doesn't require additional power so you won't have to worry about the dell's psu not being strong enough for a high end card.
search for 4670 on newegg. I'd go w\ either the gigabyte one $74.99 (64.99 after rebate)
However it requires a 475w PSU - and I think 500w would be better. What does your son'se computer have?
If not the GTS 250 - the 4670 mentioned by itad is good - but the 4770 is better and it requires only a 400w PSU. For $99.99 you can get several - I suggest the MSI - which is $99.99 AR:
Thanks guys. He will be buying this in the next 2 weeks. I have been told he needs the 6 pin connector. I think I explained to him that it might be a little more that $100. Will post final card at purchase day. Thanks again.
Late to the party again, I've been avoiding this section of the forum.
375 watts / 30 amps on the 12v and a 6 pin pcie power connector, the GTS 250 would be fine.
My overclocked 8800GTS 640 is still running strong, on the same psu, after almost 3 years.
