Can you still see the pictures when the card is in your camera?

I assume you have tried to download the pictures via a USB cable linking the camera to computer ?

If that's what didn't work, see if a friend has a computer with camera card slots or a USB card adapter and see if the pictures can be downloaded that way. Your friend can copy the pix from their computer to you via a CDR, memory stick or as e-mail attachments.

I have searched on the net and found that this is a common problem. I don't know why it happened but there is a possibility for you to get your photos. The answer I have found is to use an image recovery program like Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery, ZAR for short. It is a free download, here is the link. You will have to format your card first so your computer will recognize that it is in the reader. Then use ZAR to recover the photos. If you have a second memory card, you could take a few quick shots, reformat it and then use the program and see if it will recover the images you just shot. Of course there is no guarantee, but I think it is your best chance.

I found this solution on the forums at popphoto.com, which I use from time to time. There are many helpful people on there. Here is a link to the thread in case you want to check it out before you do anything.
