This just got listed on the Best Buy site, I'm pretty sure they messed up the picture but the rest seems normal. I was looking at the gateway at Best Buy with an i7-920, 3gb DDR3, and an ATI 4850 for $1250 but then I saw this Dell pop up. It has an i7-920, 4gb DDR3, and an ATI 4850.

How well will this system run and hold up over time? It seems like a great deal for the money and I don't think you can even build a PC with all those specs for that cheap. Should I go for it?

Thanks

have you tried comparing a built computer to a computer already made by another manufacturer

Price wise, about the same but, building your own could be better.

I would have to say No to this. Yes, the price looks good, but the components in it probably suck. The i7 920 needs to be overclocked to be good at games. There's only one PCI-E x16 slot, so no CrossFire or SLI. It doesn't say what the ram speed is. I'll bet it's only 1066 Mhz DDR3. Overall, Dell is crap.

I just built an i7 rig for under $1000. Microcenter has the i7 920 for $229. Newegg has the ASUS P6T for $230. Zipzoom fly has 6 gigs of Patriot Viper 1600 Mhz DDR3 ram for $140. Newegg also have various 4850 cards for $130-$160. Add on a PSU, Case, Optical Drive, Heatsink and HDD for another $300-$400.
