I normally don't post up too much or have too much to say about various articles I've read on Tom's. But the recent review I read about HDMI switchers has driven me to comment. The article in question is here: http://www.geardigest.com/2007/07/ [...] selectors/

The main problem I take issue with is the inclusion of the DVDO VP50. This device shouldn't even be included with the rest of the devices reviewed. And if you are going to review this product...please review it. This device is meant as a high quality video processor along the same lines as another competing product Lumagen. You don't buy into something like this if you're looking strictly for more HDMI port density. Products like this are only sought after by higher end videophiles looking to get the best out of their video sources. Some of the applications not mentioned in the article is to deal with the chroma bug present in all DVD 480i source material which presents a red push. The author only briefly touched on the other use of the VP50 which is to upscale video sources. The audio inputs included with the VP50 is not meant to make the VP50 an audio switcher. The audio inputs are there only to help in any lip syncing issues that might occur due to delays that might occur during video processing.

Please if Tom's is going to venture into reviews of A/V equipment, either do it right or leave it up to other online venues like AVSForum.
