I have an Compaq Presario C700 laptop. I currently have two DDR2 PC2-5300 1 GB sticks of RAM in the machine (from factory) and all is well. I just purchased 4GB (2x1g) of Crucial ram. If I put either one of the new sticks of RAM in I have no problems (first or second slot, makes no difference). But if i put both in I get the BSOD and first a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error, then a reboot and then a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and that's all she wrote. Put back the original RAM and all is well.

Any advice on putting 4GB of ram on this vista 32bit SP1?

Thanks

Googling your problem tells me that your laptop's chipset doesn't support more than 2GB of ram. You're stuck.

Well, the C700 apparantly uses the GM965 chipset which does support up to 4GB memory, however the implementation in the C700 series is only officially supporting 2 GB. . . there's rumor that the latest BIOS update may make it more stable. I don't have one, of course, so I can't verify, but you might try that if you already haven't.

Have you tried memtest to see how severe it is?

Ok let me try and update the BIOS to see if it works.

No I haven't try memtest but what is that? I'll google it.

Thanks for the inputs, I really appreciate it.
